This might be a dumb question but can a grounded fig make a ranged combat attack against a non-adjacent character even when based by a flier. I always though this was true but was told I could'nt do it at a marquee yesterday. Thanks.

No. If a grounded fig is based it cannot attack any non-adjacent figs. It could make a ranged attack against the flier thats basing it if the grounded fig is also not based by an opposing grounded fig.

The key points to remember when it comes to ranged combat:

1) A flying figure can use ranged combat against any figure to whom it can establish line of fire, no matter what figures are adjacent.

2) A non-flying figure who is adjacent only to flying figures may use ranged combat against only those flying figures.

3) A non-flying figure who is adjacent to a non-flying figure cannot use ranged combat.
