Ok, I've got a few newbie questions, so bare with me.
1)Ok, a character is on hindering terrain, but the LOF doesn't pass through any hindering terrain except for the spot he's on. Does he still get +1 against ranged attacks?
2) Ok, two characters have stealth. One is on hindering terrain, the other is out in the open. Other then the spot occupied by the hindering terrian clix, there is a clear line of fire to the out in the open clix. Can the hindering terrain character see the character out in the open?
3) How exactly does LOF work on elevated terrain? Can a character in the middle of Elevated terrain see someone out in the open? Can someone out in the open see a character in the middle of Elevated terrain?
4)Ok, Lets say there's a patch of hindering terrian and my character got stuck in the middle of it (Lost Leap and climb or something) My character has a foot of 8, and lets say the nearest regular terrain is 3 spots away. Can my character move half his speed(4) to get out of the hindering terrain? Or does he move a space, wait two turns, move a space, wait two turns, move a space before he can exit the terrain?
5)How does breakaway work? You get to move the same turn you roll break-away, right?
Thank you, I appreciate your help. Like I said before, I'm a newbie.
1.)Yes. The piece is considers in hindering terrain.
2.)Yes. The Character in hindering is consider to be looking out of the terrain, therefore no terrain is between them.
3.)No,and no. A grounded character only has LOS to the edge of Elevated Terrain and vice versa. If you're on the middle of Elevated Terrain you only have LOS to other spaces on Elevated Terrain (not necessarily the same Elevated Terrain, however.)
4.) You can move half the distance out of terrain. If you start your move in Hindering and you don't have L/C or Phasing, you can move half your speed, weather you're moving through hindering or out of it, or even through and then out.
5.)Yes. You roll a Breakaway and then you move. If you have a free move you can use that, if you have RS or Charge you can do that. However if you attempt a Breakaway and you don't role a 4-6 you still have to mark that character as moved, or pushed if applicable.
3) LOF and Elevated all depends on the particulars. The first rule is, LOF can only be established between grounded and elevated figures when the elevated figure is standing at the edge of the elevated terrain. The LOF between the two figures may not pass through any part of any other elevated square. Basically, if you are standing on the edge of elevated terrain, you have a 90degree arc you can see (45degrees to each side). If the grounded figure is in that arc, and assuming they are alone on a clear map, they can see each other.
4) You only stop when moving from clear terrain into hindering terrain. In the situation you describe, you are moving from hindering to hindering, so you aren't forced to stop immediately, and thus could reach the clear area 4 squares away.
5) Yes. One roll breaks you away from all opponents you are adjacent to. If you break-away, you can move normally, but are forced to stop if you become adjacent to any opponents you did not start the movement adjacent to. If you fail to break-away, you are still marked with an action token.
Or does he move a space, wait two turns, move a space, wait two turns, move a space before he can exit the terrain?
On the note of waiting two turns---I just want to make sure that you've got down the rules for pushing. If a figure wants to avoid taking a click of pushing damage, then you could only have him act on every other turn. But remember that you can act on two consecutive turns, so long as you're willing to take that click of damage for it.
I know this issue can cause trouble for a lot of new players, so I can hardly help but explain it.
Do your own pieces block line of fire? I've always been under the impression that your own figures don't block LoF, but was told differently today, and am now confused.
