Originally posted by artyboy Ares has imperv. GL has willpower. That to me gives Ares the advantage. Ares picks up a desk and phases into base contact with GL and outwits his RCE. Now GL needs a 9 to hit Ares and even if he DOES hit Ares he has to break through his imperv. Even if he DOES break through his imperv he takes a click of damage and Ares still has a 13 AV. Now GL has a 19 DV and Ares needs a 6 to hit him for 4. He can choose to attempt to break away and running shot but that wouldn't do #### either. It would just put Ares on charge or GL would miss and still be in range of Ares and his 14 AV. At this point I think that it's safe to say that the game is over. I fail to see how GL has a chance in hell against Ares one on one.
This assumes way too much, of course. The 3D objects highly favor SStrength over TK, so a GL player would not agree to use them unless he was feeling especially charitable.
So... Ares Outwits RCE once he bases GL... mmhmm. I don't suppose anyone else would think it smart of the GL player to use TK to send Ares 10 spaces away, making all Ares' hard work to get to base contact futile? With GL's Willpower, he'll be able to attack Ares at that 10rng right away, while Ares (having already spent an action to base GL) would have to worry about pushing off a precious Impervert click.
Well, why not have Ares Outwit TK instead? Well, because GL would have that RCE 6 damage threat going for him - if Impervious holds, fine! No Mystics damage to GL, and Ares would have to to push to attack. If GL gets through Imperv, the tables turn immediately, as this takes Ares to a 12attack. Sure, that's great against pretty much everybody else, but not so hot against GL's 20def.
Also, this all assumes that Ares could get to base contact with GL without getting hurt or pushing, which is highly unlikely. Truthfully, if Ares' 1st click had RunShot instead of Phasing, this argument would be moot... but since he doesn't have any RunShot, he will be hard pressed to base GL without getting hit at least once.
