1. Thunderbolts/Alternative FF & wilcards

Can wildcards copy Thunderbolted TA or Alternative FF TA? With recent FAQ I am not any more sure if this is possible.

2. Replacement value defence & ICWO/perplex

Alt FA feat & Fantastic four figs. Thing is copying Sue Storm's 19 defence. Can I use ICWO to increase the replacement value by 1? How about if opponent tries to perplex down the Thing's (19) defence. Is that possible?

1) Yes. A Wildcard which copies the TA of someone using an Alternate Team Ability card gets the alternate version (Thunderbolts rather than Avengers).

2) No to both. Thing is free to modify his defense with ICWO or have someone else modify it via Perplex, but when he's attacked Sue's 19 defense replaces his current defense value, whatever it is.

What if Sue Storm has ICWO, she moves during my turn so I increase her defense by one to 20. on my opponent's turn one of his clix attacks my ben grimm. does ben grimm get 20 or 19 defense?

19, a way to remember it is the order, replace then modify, you replace things 17 (i think thats what it is) with sue's 19, then, thing can up his def with oracle to 20. Sue cannot oracle her defense up to 20 and share the 20.

The reason Sue can't share her 20 is because the Alt. Fantastic Four card has been FAQed to sharing only unmodified Defense. The reason Thing can't get the defense up to 20 via ICWO is as I mentioned above, Thing is free to modify his defense with ICWO or have someone else modify it via Perplex, but when he's attacked Sue's 19 defense replaces his current defense value, whatever it is.

A: Avengers using Thunderbolts may not choose a team ability that is provided by a feat card. If the Thunderbolts choose Fantastic Four as their team ability they would receive the standard Fantastic Four team ability and not the alternate team ability.

So is that different case with the wild cards, why so???

Because it is. Seriously.

I know that doesn't seem like a terribly satisfying answer, but that has been the way it has been ruled to work.

Wildcards copy team abilties. Ok, so with the alternate FF card in play, the TA now shares DV among team members and that is what the wildcard copies.

Meanwhile, due to the rulings surrounding Thunderbolts (and the fact that Thunderbolts are *not* wildcards), Thunderbolts can never use alternate FF TA.

Personally, I am very glad this is the case. Dealing with Sue's 19 DV is a big enough pain as it is. The last thing I want to worry about is everyone sharing Ant-man's 20 DV...

So now days you have to build team with high attack value or have idbanded card in your feat dexk?

Well, you don't *have* to, but with the abundance of alternate FF teams and teams packing KC Green Lantern I saw at the pre-release I attended, it's probably a good idea.

Yes, he is retired. But there are always unrestricted events every month where, if you could Thunderbolt alternate FF, he'd become the unholiest terror to ever walk the earth.

So what I'm wondering now with the way replacement values work, is if the Batman Enemy/Sinister Syndicate ta's work that way as well, ie. no more sharing attack over, then perplexing up, then attacking.

In addition to this, I'm wondering if we can chain defense/attack values anymore, like Dr. Fate sharing his defense over to Mr. Terrific, who shares it over to Stargirl. If the replacement values only kick in when Stargirl is attacked, then it seems that only Mr. Terrific would be able to share his defense value with her (unless Dr. Fate was adjacent to her as well).

You cannot replace the values for SinSyn, Batman Enemy, or the values for JSA, Defenders, then use Perplex to increase it higher. The replacement values are only replaced at the point of the attack (actually making a roll). By that time, it's too late to increase it with Perplex. You are in the middle of an attack.
