Sorry if this question has already been asked, I couldn't find it anywhere.

I was building a team for this game I'm going to tomorrow. I pulled a AW U Magneto (thank you Wizkids!).

Here is what I came across. Can I use Protected to absorb the damage dealt to Magneto after doing a Nova Blast.

Here is what Protected says:

"If this character does not already have two tokens on it, damage dealt to this character as a result of a single action is ignored."

Nova Blast is a single action, I know it's proably a loophole and not ment to be used that way.

Wondering if I could get some Judges opinions on this.

No.

The 2 clicks are classified as push damage. Protected only allows you to ignore Damage Dealt and damage dealt is listed in the Rule Book as:

"damage dealt: The number of clicks an attacking character deals to a target character."

A figure that pushes isn't targeted for damage - so you can't use Protected.

At least that's the way I rule it...

Right. Pushing Damage = Damage Taken, not Damage Dealt.

"After resolving the action, this character takes 2 clicks of Pushing Damage that ignores Willpower and Team Abilities."

Nice try on trying to dig through those loopholes, though. I used to do the same thing until I successfully pulled one off....then I got bored.

Heh, well I wasn't trying to find a loophole. I just happen to put both feats on him while figuring out what force to use at my game. Dealt and take wording does make alot of sense. This is why I'm not majoring in law.
