Hello all. I'm a newbie and I love to read all the great advice listed on this forum. I was wondering if I could get some advice on defending against flying characters with Hypersonic Speed. Thanks for the help.
Well, I'd say one of the best ways to defend against them would be your choice of battlefield conditions. Crosswinds comes to mind, and maybe Inertial Interferance Field. If you're having trouble with heavy hitting HSS (Superman) then maybe Power Dampening Field. Remember, you play your BFC after you see your opponent's team. Which characters in particular are you having a hard time with?
Swingline is a great flight deterrent. Once grounded, HSSers will have a bit more difficulty traversing hindering terrain in order to use Option #1. You could also use the Crosswinds BFC, but keep in mind that this will ground all flying characters, including your own.
The problem with swingline is that they regain their flight at the beginning of their turn. That function of swingline is almost totally useless, unless you are pulling them out of soaring. Unless they've released some sort of errata on this?
Frankly, I think swingline is already an undercosted card. The +1 to movement gives Nimrod that extra 1 square he needs to make a 1st turn (assuming you go second) nova blast that reaches the entire back row (w/ TK). It gives Magog a 6 square charge over any hindering...not to mention the benefits to characters like Quicksilver, and The Flash.

Small clarification: Nimrod can't do this whether you go first or second. First turn immunity lasts until *both* players have finished their first turn.
