I was playing a game against my buddy. He had Sentry with Protected (and Shellhead, and Fortitude, and Lazarus pit and Repulsor Shield, and T-Bolted to Mystics ...) So I hit him with an AP EE attack, and I rolled 6,6. So he pulls out his Protected card. Ok so no Damage to Sentry, except the Push, but then he tells me that the whole attack is negated, and that the Splash from the EE doesn't affect the surrounding figures. I didn't bother to read the card, and I took his word for it.
After the match, I looked at my Protected card, and it doesn't say that the attack is negated, just that the target takes no Damage from the attack. So did I get one pulled over on me?

The damage is ignore, yes, but the attack is still succesful. Best example of this is a Stunning Blow attack. You can use Protected to avoid the damage dealt, but you will still take the token from the Incap portion of Stunning Blow because the attack was successful (and since you added a token for use Protected and now have two tokens, you'll take pushing damage).
So, in your case, Sentry would have ignored the damage but, assuming the EE roll was high enough to hit the DV of surrounding characters, the splash damage would still have been there.
Would protected negate Ae to?? Cause I'm pretty sure it says that it cannot be reduced lower than 1??
I assume Ae is Armor Piercing, which Protected ignores. Protected prevents damage from being dealt. It doesn't reduce it, which is needed for Armor Piercing to activate.
