...in games of 800pts to 1000pts scale, between the the FF Wolverine or the Sinister Wolverine, which would you take and why? I can't make up my mind on these two, but I want to use one or the other.
I would use the Sinister one b/c of his EW that he has in and out of his dial and his atk and bad so you can hit with him. also has invulnerabilty wich is sooooooooo sweet.
In that kind of large-point game, I'd take FF Wolvie because your opponent should probably have enough high-defense pieces that his 12 attack will really be necessary. Also because Sinister Wolvie's starting Invuln will tend to not matter as he gets blown away in a couple actions. FF Wolvie is cheap enough that people will generally not want to put too much effort into attacking him, and his powers don't matter enough (put Armor Piercing on him) for people to bother outwitting him if you present them with juicier outwit targets.
definitly the FF wolverine. The sinister drops to a 7 attack flurry click, and I refuse to use a wilverine who drops that low by mid dial. I think he only regens for 2 clicks also which sucks.
I would pretty much always use the FF Wolverine. He's just so much better overall. His only real weakness is reliance on BCF to deal damage.
The Battle Fury on Sinister Wolverine is a much bigger deal than most people either realize, or are willing to admit. In a game I played recently, I totally neutralized Sininster Wolverine inside the mansion/house map by using Batman to Outwit TK through Stealth. Also, since I had Validus covering the middle of the map, Wolverine could not approach at all (due to his E Magneto occupying the only space Wolverine could go through, but was covered by my Validus via giant adjacency). Once I KOed the Magneto, I Outwitted Charge, so Wolverine was hosed again.
Mobility will always be a part of the game, and figures without good mobility or cannot rely on others for mobility are usually at a big disadvantage. If you really want to use Sinister Wolverine, I would definitely suggest Mind Control to make the opponent base Wolverine, instead of the other way around. V Karma is awesome for this purpose. Also, in the case of a large game, Mind Control will probably pay off regardless.
I would definitely use the FF Wolverine. At 71 pts, he's a great bargain and harrassment piece. To make matters worse for your opponents, I'd even Laz Pit him because that only makes him 91 pts, and your opponents will have to worry about him twice.
That still makes him cheaper than Sinister Wolvie.
