I apologize if this asked been asked before, but I searched first and found squat. If its covered by the FAQ, again I apologize as the wizkids site blocked from my access for some reason.
Anyway...when a character with Mindcontrol and multiple lightning bolts chooses to attack more than one enemy, if the attack succeeds, does he HAVE to MC them?
Say Charlie or Doc Psycho successfully hit three target with a combined point total of over 100, can they choose to not MC one or more targets to avoid feedback damage?
Y'know... I believe you have to. It's not like you're spreading damage around and can choose to assign '0' damage to someone... you target them with a mind control, it hits, so you mind control them.
I just reread the rules, and I'd have to agree with Peers, because on multiple targets, you can assign 0 damage, but as Mind Control deals no damage, I'd say you were stuck with all hit opponents.
do you have to target three characters if you have three lightning bolts? Why not just target one or two so it doesn't add up to 100 points (so you can avoid the damage from feedback?) Why target 3 characters if you don't want to MC all three?
if you want to mc a higher defense character but have to roll a 9 or higher but then theres a character you only have to roll maybe... 6 or higher, if you miss the 9, you still have the 6.

So, kinda hedging your bets, roll-wise, then opting out of the ones you don't really want so you can avoid the feedback! I get it! Tricky! I wouldn't have thought of that...but, I think those kinds of hijinks merit the feedback damage. To me, that's kinda shady!
when you mind control the figure, just dont do anything with it and you dont have to take your damage for 100 points...
correct me if im wrong.
The damage is based on the point value of the figures that were successfully hit with the MC Attack not whether or not they are given an action.

Choosing not give a figure an action would not make it any less successfully hit by the attack.
As an aside, I believe each figure successfully hit by the MC Attack must be given an action in order to resolve the MC action. Though the wording could probably be clearer.
BoT
I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries....now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
Looks like BootofTelsa got this one. The PAC says the point total of the characters you hit not the characters you give actions too so if you don't want to take feedback for MCing more then one character that combine to over 100 points don't target them all and if its just one 100+ point figure then its like Liminator said use mental shield. Also you do have to do some kind of action to make the MC figure unfriendly again to... lets say... attack it with the other MC figure but taking an action is as simple as using its perplex or outwit or even just using a move action and end up in the same square he was in at the start kinda simular to giving a con artist an action without really moving her anywhere to get her to push to her perplex.
