Just looking over some rules today and realized there were some things I've been doing totally wrong and it led to some questions:
1) If I Mind Control the last member of my opponent's team, does the game end immediately as my opponent has no friendly figures left?
2) If the first part happens, who collects points for the figure that's mind controlled (as said figure would have been friendly to my force at the end of the game and wouldn't have been KOed)?
Thanks for the quick answer, but do you know the reasoning behind why it's not possible (aside from the insanely powerful implications)? I know if you capture your opponent's last piece, the game ends and the timing would seem to work in a similar way.
The mind control wording even makes it seem even more likely. Or did someone just ask this a while ago and it was ruled that way (also a perfectly sensible answer)?

Except you are not capturing, you are Mind Controlling. Also, the capture rulescome right out and state that capturing the last opposing character automatically ends the game. Without that little tidbit, there is no other evidence in the capture rules that would lead you to that conclusion (instead, the way the capture rules are written, you'd assume you could tromp your colossal figure right back to the starting area unhindered and collect your double points).
The point is, not only are the two totally different game mechanics, since MC does not say the game is over when you MC the last opposing fig, the game isn't over. Play on as normal.
I looked in the rulebook and assorted supporting documents and though I saw nothing addressing this specifically, I have always played and seen it played that a game doesn't end until the current action is resolved. That is to say if there is one figure on each side and they are both on the last click before KO, and one player pushes its figure to successfully KO the other player's figure, both figure get KO'd, the game ends and victory points are calculated. So in the MC example, while the figure is friendly to you and opposing to the other player's force during the MC, it won't be at the time the MC action is resolved.
This is as I said not actually addressed in the rules but I think the more common way it is played.... though I could be wrong.
