Hello
Are these the same?
Basically, can I Extended Range a Nova Blast shot?
Extended Range states for a Ranged Combat Action, while Pulse Wave is a Ranged Combat Action.
Thanks
Chris

Are you mistaken on one of those being an action, or am I missing something else?
A (ranged/close) combat action leads to a (ranged/close) combat attack, so it should be feasible. If Extended Range can be used with a ranged combat attack, and Pulse Wave is a ranged combat action, then they are compatible. If it's the other way around, you're out of luck.
Yes, I'm too lazy to check which it is.

This doesn't answer action/attack question, but does answer the Nova Blast/Extended Range.
These two are not compatible. Damage from Nova Blast cannot be modified, and Extended Range modifies the damage.
It can be used with regular Pulse Wave, but you end up dealing 0 damage. Single target would be the only use.
well i always look at it like this. A feat card grants additional powers based on a power existing on a dial. It doesn't grant a power given by a feat.
Example:
Thunderbolting to Fantastic Four and then using Alternate Team Ability for Fantastic four.
You can extend a Pulse wave, but the nova blast cannot be affected in such a way. The only way I could see you extending the range of a pulswave novablast is possibly by perplex... you just can't perplex up a novablasts damage

A good rule of thumb (and how I explain Pounce to new guys), but Nova Blast specifically mentions using Pulse Wave.
Before making a ranged combat attack, the character’s range may be increased for the duration of the attack by a number of squares up to its unmodified damage value. For each square the range of an attack is increased, decrease the damage dealt by 1 (after all other modifiers and replacements) when resolving the attack.
Here is Pulse Wave:
PULSE WAVE (OPTIONAL): Give this character a ranged combat action; halve its range value until the action has been resolved. All powers, team abilities, and feats possessed by characters within range of this attack are ignored until the action has been resolved. Wild cards using this power may use the team ability of a friendly character within range of this attack. At least one opposing figure must be within range of this attack to activate this power. Draw lines of fire to every character (friendly and opposing) within range in every direction; these lines of fire ignore characters, but are affected normally by terrain. If clear lines of fire can be drawn to two or more characters, this character’s damage value becomes 1 for this attack; otherwise, do not replace this character’s damage value. Make a single attack roll and compare the result to the defense value of each character in range; each character hit is dealt damage. Attacks made with this power do not target characters.
Here is Nova Blast:
Choose a character.
When the character use Pulse Wave, its damage does not become 1 for the attack. Use the character's unmodified damage for the attack, regardless of how many clear lines of fire can be drawn.
After resolving this action, the character takes 2 pushing damage that ignores Willpower and team abilities; remove Nova Blast from the game.
After reading these rules, it sounds to me that you can modify the damge however you want + or - and it will not change the amount that Nova Blast does. If I Perplex the damage up and roll a critical hit, it would still only do the printed damage value, why would that not be the same for negatives... like what if I used Perplex to lower the damage value, Nova Blast would ignore that right? Why not Extended Range then? I think, at least by the wording, that I should be able to do this:
Emerald Empress Vet with 8 range and Extended Range and Nova Blast... She should be able to Running shot out her movement of 10 and then use her Nova Blasted Pulse Wave... before she activates Extended Range and lowers the damage to zero, thus adding 4 more range (now, would this be before or after the halfing of the range?)... then BANG!
Let me know, I would love to use this at the next event...
Thanks for all the help,
Chris

Just so you know, that's not how Extended Range reads any more. From the Marvel E&C:
Replace the text on the card with:
“Before making a ranged combat attack, the character's range may be increased for the duration of the attack by a number of squares up to its unmodified damage value. For each square the range of an attack is increased, decrease the damage value by 1 (after all other modifiers and replacements) when resolving the attack. An attack using Incapacitate does not place any action tokens on the target.”

Not quite. Critical hits add to damage dealt, not damage value. A critical hit with Nova Blast will indeed deal an extra click of damage.
Finally, here's this bit from the FAQ:
Q: While using Extended Range and making a Pulse Wave attack (with Nova Blast, for example) is the character’s range halved before or after increasing the range with Extended Range.
A: The range increase from Extended Range is added after the range is halved for the Pulse Wave attack.
As indicated by this entry, you can indeed use ER with Nova Blast.
Well, the only reason I am even looking into this is that at my store many people have been using the Nova Bomb teams... and I hate them... So, I thought I would show them the best Nova Bomb team that I could... I am hoping this works so that I can show them up, but then I am sure that they would start using it too... this could blow up in my face. Oh well...
Thanks.
Does anyone know how to get the 'official' answer?

If that's all you want to do, just pack a team full of Barrier and Outwit. Pulse Wave (and thus Nova Blast) does not ignore terrain. They can't PW you through a Barrier (or even a regular wall). Also, its rather hard to use PW if it is Outwitted
Finally, since ranges are halved with PW, just keep your figure spread out and, if you have fliers, keep some characters in soaring mode. That way your opponent won't be able to get your whole team at once.

How much more 'official' do you need than the FAQ and E&C documents
no it doesn't work, feat cards to do not work simultaneously together like this. The only thing using both of them together would do is give you more options when it came down to that critical decision. If your oponent loves using Novablast then I would play with some outwit, afterall you cannot use NB if pulsewave is outwited. Also you could always get the first shot in if you used a hypersonic trickshoted monster like Count Nefaria. Throw swingline on him and give him oracle and you will more than likely hit.

Some Feat cards do indeed work together; it almost always depends on the phrasing of the cards, just like with powers and abilities (although sometimes it depends on rulings). Please scroll up and look at normalview's posts.
