So a question came up today that none of us knew the true answer to. I figure someone on the realms will reveal the mystery behind it:
Say I have mind controlled Steel with Nocturne. Steel then makes an attack and rolls a crit miss. Who receives the crit miss damage? Steel because he made the attack or Nocturne because she was given the action?
Thanks. It was a three way game and I wasn't involved in the move at all. Steel's owner said Nocturne took the damage, Nocturne's owner said Steel took the damage. I said I didn't know, so they called it a wash and no one took any damage.
If you roll two 1s (for a total of 2) on an attack roll, you automatically miss the target, even if your attack roll result would be high enough to hit the target. This is called a critical miss. Immediately deal your character 1 unavoidable damage; this represents a weapon backfire or your character straining or wounding itself during the action.
Now, who is rolling in the statement "if YOU roll two 1s"
Would Nocturne be the one rolling? No. The critical miss applies to the character rolling. Doesn't matter if they want to roll it or not
Besides, even if you rolled 2 for the initial MC you still would not take any damage!
