When a giant moves adjacent to a regular character leaving a space between them and the opposing regular character has charge, would the opposing character need to roll break away to charge the giant or would it move as normal. also do normal characters have to stop when they become adjacent to a giant even though there is a space between them or could the regular character move right up to base to base with the giant?
Well the bank won't give me credit because i'm a bad risk and I don't pay my bills on time. So I have to work for what I have!

The figure would have to roll for breakaway before they charge. because they are NOT adjacent for Close Combat purposes, so they cannot make a close combat attack from where they are. But they ARE adjacent for movement purposes so they have to breakaway if they Charge.

Yes they have two stop. Unless the figure has away to avoid being locked up with a figure while moving (leap/climb, flying, Phasing, ect) then it has to stop whenever it gets within 2 squares of the giant.

So what if the character is charging the giant figure? When they become adjacent to the giant do they have to stop within the 2 square rule?, or can they move base to base and attack?

A moving figure will become adjacent to a Giant when it is two squares away. Any figure that would normally have to stop due to adjacency with an opposing figure would have to stop at that point. (Some examples of what would allow a figure to continue would be that the figure was flying or was using Leap/Climb, Phasing, Serpent Society TA or Hypersonic Speed.) If the figure is Charging and is forced to stop two squares away from a Giant (because it can't ignore opposing figures for movement), then it will not be able to make a close combat attack against the Giant because it isn't considered adjacent to make such an attack.
A more succinct answer to your question, I suppose, is: they have to stop, cannot move to the "one square adjacency" and cannot make a close combat attack against him.
TRADES. eBay.
An Admin told me that I'm "too smart" for Another Realm. I hold that as a standing order.

A character Charging against a giant must stop two squares away if it does not ignore figures for movement. A standard character would be unable to actually attack.
Hey it's a great opportunity to ask a giant question. I actually have two. First if a giant has super strength and picks up an object while moving, does it have to be one square adjacency or can he pick it up two squares away. Second question, for those giants that have team abilities for adjacency (Atom Smasher, JSA), in order for them to share the defense, do they have to be one square adjacent, or can they be adjacent for the defensive value two squares away?
Thought I'd throw these questions out since the topic was for giants anyways.
One square adjacency for both. 2 square-away adjacency only works for movement purposes.
Well, I AM pretty awesome.
An understanding of the law of large numbers leads to a realization that what appear to be fantastic improbabilities are not remarkable at all but, merely to be expected.

Yes and no.
While that was the correct answer for the "adjacent powers and such" question (using JSA isn't part of movement or the Giant's close combat attack), you do in fact pick up objects while moving. It's the only time you can pick up objects, actually (even if it is just a zero move action).
However, a Giant still can't pick up an object two squares away because the modified adjacency rules only apply to characters; terrain and objects are not characters. Giants may not pick up objects two squares away and they can't destroy terrain (with a close combat attack) two squares away.

Yes, they'd have to stop unless the charging character has the "Move through" feat. They next available turn the charging character would have to roll for a breakaway to go that 1 more square to the giant.

Curse you Normalview! Of course you're right...cut me some slack...I have a touch of insomnia and I'm only running at half brain capacity...

Thanks for your answers guys,
This situation arose when my friend placed Hulk from Avengers 2 squares away from my SOD Supes and Vet Icons Wonder Woman.
Since both have 0 range (wheres wondy's lasso btw?)
I attempted to breakaway SOD supes and succeeded. We didn't know if Supes could charge Hulk at this point, or choose another opponent to charge due to breakaway/adjacency rules.
Lemme tell you. 0 range character(s) against a giant based figure is a horrible situation to be in.

It isn't an ideal situation, no.
However in this particular case, you did have some options. First, since both characters are flying characters, they ignore characters (including Giants) while moving and could have gone right up adjacent to Hulk (assuming that they began moving outside of the two square radius... if not, they still have to roll breakaway as normal). Second, both of those characters also have Super Strength, so if you were stuck two squares out for some reason you could always choose to throw your objects and not risk the break away.
