V Dr. Strange is the best. Just give him a good taxi and you're set. Don't be afraid to push him, every click he just gets better, until he get probability control. I had a lot of fun playing him when I had E Black Cat. 2 probability controllers was driving my opponent nuts! Plus, he can be a healer, and he has enhancement. Basically, he's the best support piece, with ever support ability roled into one. So, you can either put a medic, a prob. controller, an enhancer and a taxi on your team, or just one Dr. Strange.
You know, I've found R Dr. Strange is really great. He's a good taxi and I use him with a SHEILD agent to increase the damage of his ranged attacks. I threw an extra R Dr. Strange onto a big team I was using then moved him out and he drew the fire of my opponents' team. He's fairly expensive but your opponent will be nervous when you put him on the field and then you can use your others figures to move in on the other side. Recommended!

V Dr. Strange. His attack is high enough to hit even those 18 defense figures most of the time, and with his defense of 19 vs ranged attack, 20 if on hindering, and 10 range, he's difficult to take off that first click. And don't forget about his incapacitate. It's one of the few things that can bypass mastermind, making him a potential threat to V Dr Doom. The super powers are pretty much the same on all his versions, but his higher stats make the V a better way to go.
Although the E is one of only two Defenders until Xplosion, allowing you to combo E Ultron, E Black Cat, and some Doombots. This will allow everyone to share Ultron's 18 defense. If Dr Strange is taxiing Ultron, he'll have a 20 defense vs ranged and you can push him to give Ultron that enhancement bonus. This is really only viable in higher point games though.
Sure, the V Dr. Strange is great, but he's gotta be close to 100 points by himself! (I used to have one but I traded it away.) He's great to build a team around, and that's fine, but I think an R Dr. Strange on a team with other strengths would work out better.

Yeah, Doc is great, at any level, but he can also be a good deal expensive, even for a Rookie. Also, he'll draw your opponent's fire, which can be an advantage or disadvantage. Personally, I like using him on the front line or as a flank, with a cheapie SHEILD agent, then have my Cap and She-Hulk roll in from the back.
