Okay I had this come up in a game and wondered who was right:

1. Ultimate Thor carries invisible girl around so he can share that 18 defense. If a character like Deadpool perplexes down Thor's defense is his defense still an 18?

2. IC Unique wasp was thunderbolted to JSA and stood next to Jakeem Thunder. Since he has share defense the person I was playing said that the 19 would travel to him in which he could share a 19 defense with characters like Havok, Multiple man, and R Atom. Is this true because I could have sworn SD said that you could only share your defense value.

Yes, for the same reason you can't Perplex up shared values (like Sinister Syndicate). The Perplex is its own action that occurs before any attack would be made, so Thor's DV is down from (say) 16 to 15. Then, when Thor is attacked, the Defend comes along and completely replaces the old value. Until the end of this attack action, his DV is now Invisible Girl's unmodified 18 instead of his modified 15.

Other than that, chaining DVs is just fine. Defend, Defenders, JSA, wildcards, etc when used properly can create nasty long chains. The only real trick to watch out for is that JSA and Defenders (even though their descriptions are the same) are TWO DIFFERENT TAs. Since they are different, Nighthawk can't share his DV with Shazam!.

In your example, though, since Wasp is a JSA-er (courtesy of T-bolts), she can lend her 19 DV to Jakeem, and Jakeem can use his Defend to share that on down the line to non-JSA-ers.

a couple of answer.... 1. if you perplex down thors defense, he is still sharing invisible girls defense. So even if you perplex his 16 down to a 13, he would still use her 18. if her defense is perplexed down, then it would bring his down. 2. in thw wizkids LoSH PAC, it the definiton of Defend: Before any attack roll, any friendly character adjacent to this character may replace its defense value with this characters unmodified defense value (including a replacement value) for the duration of the attack. So yes, defend can be "chained" from one defender to another.

No, it wouldn't. As you showed by quoting "Defend", the character's unmodified defense value is shared. Perplex is down all you want. IW may be reduced to a 15, but Thor still gets the 18.

I believe you are right. I was thinking the other way around, if you perplex her up that it doesnt affect him but i 4got it works the other way. Brain slip up. Thanks for correcting me.

If you were to Perplex down Invisible Girls Defense, that would work though correct?

No it wouldn't. All the defense sharing powers/Team Abilities and feats use the wording "unmodified defense value" Perplex the DV up or down, but the shared value will not change.*

Note the "Unmodified" bit does not stop the Sharing of Replacement Values. this is why all these powers chain.
