A friend and I alternate challenges, and his latest one is The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (me) against the JLA (him). The catch: no commons, and the team affiliation must be on the dial. I think I'm a goner, but here is the team i assembled:
R Magneto
E Juggernaut
E Sabretooth
V Pyro
R Rogue
V Mystique
V Avalanche
R Scarlet Witch
E Destiny
R Quicksilver
Do I stand a chance? The only JLA character I'm pretty sure he won't be playing is Supes. Any input before the Great Mutant Massacre begins would be appreciated.
Well, here's what his team might look like, assuming he will play Superman:
- Aquaman E/V or LE Arthur Curry
- Batman V
- Blue Beetle E
- Booster Gold E
- Flash R/E/V
- Hawkman R
- Huntress V
- Plastic Man E/V
- Steel E
- Superman V
Your team at the moment looks pretty good due to that face you've got characters from three Marvel sets to play with. I think it might actually be an even fight.
Take in to account that in the future these figures are currently missing from the Heroclix JLA:
- John Stewart LE
- Wonder Woman
- Martian Manhunter
Thanks for the input, weezer. That was pretty much his team, though as I guessed there was no Supes. I won, somehow. Rogue, Pyro and Quicksilver fell pretty fast, but I held Juggernaut away from his heaviest hitters and used him to take out various annoyances, like Flash. I kept Avalanche on a rooftop to use his Barrier to guard the likes of Sabretooth. In my favorite part of the game, Rookie Scarlet Witch took out a seriously wounded Bats, even with her Probability Control outwitted. In the end I wounded enough characters to the point where he couldn't harm Juggy. It was a good game, and both of us put up a pretty strong fight, I think.
It'll be interesting when Cosmic Justice comes out; more JLA members to play with, and they'll be some of the stronger ones too; Martian Manhunter, John Stewart, Wonder Woman, etc. Your next Brotherhood vs. JLA fight may not be so close next time.
Cosmic Justice will almost certainly tip the scales. I'm not sure the other Marvel expansion were THAT much help--I only used Avalanche from CT and Destiny and Mystique from X. Destiny lasted the whole dang game--I rolled good for almost every Super Senses. I got to perplex up Juggernaut's damage to 4 with Mystique before he pounded Huntress, but otherwise Mystique wasn't as dangerous as I had hoped. Still, your point is taken. I thought the sheer lack of taxies would kill me, but having a larger pool to draw from helped.
You do have to remember that point for point DC figs are weaker than Marvel Figs. I'm not being biased here but DC figs do have a lower attack value and defense.
I think, the two main figures you have to k.o. in a fight like this are Flash and Batman for their Outwit, because Brotherhood has no member with Outwit (DC got more Outwit, Perplex, slow dropping attack values and a deeper dial!).
