Does Taskmaster now make a Masters of Evil team viable?
For his point cost and the fact that he can be carried, I'm starting to believe that the Masters of Evil can now be built into a team if Taskmaster is a part of it (since he's a Minion of Doom team member). The team would only require 1 true Masters of Evil team member for this to be viable.
Previously, the best Minion of Doom that could be included to assist in the Masters of Evil team was 56-point Spiral. The real knock against using her, though, was the battle fury. TK helped, but line of sight is not always present to get her to the appropriate location.
Now that we have Taskmaster at 39 points (rookie), my question to the HC Realms community is: Has anyone tried to build a 200+ point team that can finally take advantage of this powerful team ability?
Since most of the MoE team members are REALLY good at range, and thus unusable in close combat, there are better wild card choices than MoE guys. People most often combo MoD wild card guys with Brotherhood/Avengers or (in the early days) Sinister Syndicate people.
I was just thinking of building just such an army. Yes, I think Taskmaster makes for an excellent wild-card to add to a Masters of Evil team.
The guys I play with, we usually do larger armies (300 or 500), so I plan on using vet Tasky on my team.
My problem is that many of the Masters of Evil are awfully expensive. I'm happy there is now a cheaper costing Master, namely the Exp Scorpion in the Xplosion set.
Using him and or Enchantress to get the MoE ability, and then using Wildcards like vet Tasky, vet Sandman, and Doombots, I can come up with many scenarions where a great deal of dammage can be doled out.
As for MoE guys being bad at close fighting, remember the rule that allows you to range combat between adjacent figures if even one of them is hovering. So, if the MoE team wants to take out Firelord, and Tasky and Kang get next to him, they can both attack for one action -- Tasky close combat using BCF and Kang using his RCE to blast the hovering Firelord.
Also, As long as at least two MoE or wildcard figures are adjacent to an opponent, any MoE or wildcard figures adjacent to them can attack, and they don't have to attack the same figure. So, while Tasky and Kang can attack Firelord in the above example, the Doombots that ferried them in last turn can also get free attacks, and can target the medics sneaking up to heal poor ole Firelord.
Masters of Evil has always been a viable team to create, you just have to use the right masters. vet hyde, controller etc. I've got a deoom led 500 that goes like this
e Doom
Titania
r doombot
e doombot
v Mr. Hyde
v Controller
v Whirlwind
v A.I.M medic
But titania hyde controller and whirlwind are beautiful for masters of evil based team. However you are correct taskmaster would make this team even better. By the way what is taskmaster considered as in villany? Controller is a Stark villain, doc samson is a Hulk "villain," klaw a panther villain with the occasional FF4. Hyde is a "get stomped by everybody" villain, who is taskmaster
You've addressed one of the real problems with MoE, their ability is more powerful the smaller the size game (and fewer actions to use), their usefulness can be almost lost in any game over 300 points. A solid 200 point team with MoE is an excellent goal. Vet. Hyde and rook. Taskmaster sounds like a pretty good one-two punch. Wasp's free move means you can use one action to taxi with Vulture and the second to attack with both MoE/MoD characters. I like it.

Taskmaster is the man with the photographic reflexes. Any action he sees someone do, he can instantly mimic. He can fight like Captian America, shoot like Bullseye, Sneak like a Hand Ninja, and cook like Iron Chef. He started off as an Avengers villian, but not faring too well, he decided to become a merc. He trained a few people in the marvel U and left continuity for awhile. Recently he reappeared in Deadpool, where he was defeated by the merc-with-a-mouth in front of his students, and his students abandoned him shortly afterward. He changed his costume and tried going solo for awhile in a four part miniseries, in which he met Sandi. Sandi then became the buisness director of Deadpool Inc. and worked for Wade Wilson (Deadpool). A virus was given to Wade by the Black Swan, and Sandi asked Taskmaster to help him. Taskmaster offered to put thier last scuffle asside and help Wade take down the Swan, but wade goes in solo....and gets blown up (so it seems). Afterward a man greatly resembling Wade shows up on Sandi's doorstep with no memory. He chooses the name Alex Hayden and tells Sandi he wants to become a merc. Sandi, having her old connections, gets Taskmaster to train him. Hayden (Agent X), Taskmaster, Sandi, and Outlaw then form Agency X. Right now Taskmaster isn't realy a bad guy, more like a wild card, which makes his minion of doom ability make since in x-plosion.

Oops, you're right, phonix. Not a huge problem though. After pushing him he still has 10 AV, 3 damage and SS. He can still give an MoE beatdown well enough.
Taskmaster makes ANY team viable. All 3 versions of him are great. A rare thing in the game of Heroclix. I am hard pressed to find any character who all 3 versions of are affordable, effective, and fun to play.
On an MOE team, he could definately bring the pain. Imagine if you were able to include Spiral on such a team, using the MOE ability, that would be at least 3 BCF attacks on 1 single figure using only one action!! The more you have based with the enemy figure, the more havoc you can cause.
THis is a great Idea, Ill probably look into trying out an MOE team ability themed team.
