The last remaining Kree officer evaded Tigra’s attack and returned with a vicious roundhouse that knocked out the feline Avenger. He snarled, “Terran upstart.” He turned to take in the tactical situation and saw that he was greatly outnumbered. Wonder Man and Moon Knight were advancing on his position, and only one Sentry was still standing.
The Super Skrull ducked around a bank of equipment that nearly reached to the vaulted ceiling of the Kree mountain cavern. The last remaining Kree Sentry began to take a step toward the Skrull but then stopped. “My sensors seem to be malfunctioning. Recalibrating…,” the Sentry spoke.
Ant-Man watched from behind one of the two remaining columns that comprised the power cells for the shield surrounding Earth. He suspected what Kl’rt was about to do – and he was right. Suddenly, a large conduit relay seemed to levitate of its own accord. Without warning, it was propelled by an unseen hand into the power cell. Ant-Man had just enough presence of mind to dive for cover before the energy explosion occurred.
BWOOOM
The Super Skrull had utilized the powers of Invisible Girl to sneak around the corner, grab the Kree’s own equipment with the strength of the Thing, and use it to destroy the last of the power cells.
When the dust and metal stopped flying, the Kree officer had dashed off in the wake of the power cell’s explosive disruption, and the Sentry flew off suddenly. The cavern fell ominously silent.
Moon Knight stepped forth from his cover and said, “What’s going on? We might have outnumbered them, but that last robot was still quite a handful.”
Wonder Man ran over and picked up the limp, unconscious form of the Scarlet Witch. “Who cares? The power cells are destroyed and we have wounded,” he replied, gazing into the mutant’s lovely face.
“This is merely another example of Skrull superiority, Terrans,” said the Super Skrull, fading into view. “You performed adequately – although the Fantastic Four would have made quicker work of those automatons.”
After he had ascertained that Sersi was looking after Iron Man, and Moon Knight had tended to Tigra’s and Mockingbird’s wounds, Ant-Man could not resist the rare opportunity to examine the alien technology. In spite of the foreign characters, he believed he could – with time – decipher their meaning and learn how to operate some of the equipment. “Look here,” he said, “this must be the monitor system for the energy flow, and this… uh oh…” He had noticed a flashing light on one of the consoles….
*** What could the flashing light mean? Why did the last remaining Kree officer take flight? Stay tuned for the next issue of RPSC: West Coast Avengers #18 -- coming soon!
Here are the calculations i did at the end of the post-issue #17 training match against Vagrant King:
[17] U Iron Man /2 = 8.5 => 2 IXPs, 1 IAP
[ ] U Sersi => 0 IXPs, 0 IAPs
[16] R Hawkeye (Fantastic Forces) /2 = 8 => 2 IXPs, 0 IAPs
[ ] R Ant-Man => 0 IXPs, 0 IAPs
[ ] R Mockingbird => 0 IXPs, 0 IAPs
Team: 33 /2 = 16.5 => 4 TXPs, 1 TAP
from KOs: the WCA knocked out three R Skrull Infiltrators and one E Skrull Warrior (all from Supernova), and their point values add up to:
105 points x 0.25 = 26.25 /2
---> 26.25 /2 = 13.125 => 3 TXPs, 0 TAPs
Adding in the TAPs from just above: 7 TXPs, 1 TAP
Consequently:
Old totals (from just above)
LE Tony Stark (Armor Wars) 150 (16 IXPs, 2 IAPs)
E Wonder Man (Mutant Mayhem) 112 (20 IXPs, 0 IAPs)
R Hawkeye (Fantastic Forces)* 61 (6 IXPs, 0 IAPs)
