Acapria- advocate and abuser of the Sub team. All her friends/players hate her.
Unlike others on the realms I have never brought a SUB team and played against my community; and never will. I have playtested it against another competative player and the jurry is still out on whether it will be effictive or not. We will have to see what develops in the next few sets.
I will bring something that uses SIF to WWE and it will be themed. This team may or may not be underbuilt. I personally build to 292 when I underbuild but may have to reconsider.
All that aside I still think the opportunities forgone with a non-theme team far outway the benafits.
I tried not building theme teams at first.
Then I played against Malice once and thought again.
The only theme I even like to build with is future since they have Ahab, & I haven't even gotten to the robots yet.
I don't like having to build theme teams under the current 50% floor requirement since the point cost of figs seems to have been escalating for some reason, and it's harder to build good, competitive teams using some keywords under that restriction.
Mutant of course is an exception, but I don't like to use only mutants.
Let's not even revisit the fiasco that has become Justice League keyword themes.
Now in unrestricted, some theme teams will really get a boost such as martial artist & soldier.
Future will too.
I tried building theme teams without prob figures relying solely on the prob granted by the theme team bonus-and I've found that bringing my own pc figure is better in the longrun. I don't like having to give any of my figs a token to use the pc granted by the theme bonus either.
BFC's on theme teams are NEEDLESSLY confusing now.
Most of the purpose and effectiveness of BFC's have been nerfed by theme teams.
Just read the errata list on how to "ignore" them.
Ugh.
I don't like having to read it again & again to know which BFC's I can play either with or against a theme team.
Even if you don't run a theme team and you go up against one-it nerfs your BFC so why bring it?
Maybe WizKids should just stop making them.
Plus, I like pogs. Some suck and some are really good.
When I build theme-I am not allowed to use them.
I know we can during some of the Crisis events-but that may not continue afterwards.
So maybe they should just stop making them too?
And when I build outside of theme, I ALWAYS pack an Ordinary Day!
And I refuse to use cards like Malice or Earthquake, etc outside of theme.
When I am not playing theme, I pretty much either play no BFCs or Damage Control/Ordinary Day precisely because BFCs often are too complicated to try to figure out.
I don't particulary fear Malice, because if I break theme, I build planning to always make attacks (move+attack, high-ish range, Willpower). The only BFCs that I really "feared" against my non-theme teams are the range reducers: Shrunk and Deep Shadows. But 99% of players build teams desperate for range (either straight-up damage, or Outwit/PC/Danger) so they don't even CONSIDER playing those.
