Meteorite -Continual. When this object is used in a successful close combat attack, roll one six-sided die and subtract 2 from the result, minimum result 1. Add the result to the attacker’s unmodified damage value for the attack. The damage dealt can’t otherwise be modified.
Someone yesterday at a tourney said something that i found exceptionaly interesting, which was that if someone uses the Meteorite in an attack that the damage becomes penetrating since the damage cannot be modified, now i trust him because he has been playing for many more years than i, but i just wanted to make sure i understood him correctly
The damage cannot be reduced, but it is NOT penetrating damage.
Penetrating can't be reduced by powers.
The damage from meteorite cannot be modified in any way. Powers can't reduce it. However, as opposed to penetrating damage:
- LMD won't reduce it.
- Critical hits won't increase it.
- Ground Zero won't increase it.
- Armor Wars won't increase it.
etc.
Continual means that even after the object has been picked up, its special power continues to work. In this case the meteorite makes your damage unable to be modified, as opposed to the Shield Disrupter which stops working once it has been picked up. i actually had to ask that same question here and found out what the real definition of continual means.
thanks for clarifying, the wording made it sound like penetrating damage but its good to know about the other stuff
If damage is penetrating for an effect then the effect says the damage is penetrating. There's never an instance when damage is penetrating because it "sounds like" it's penetrating.
Yeah the meteorite was the stupid thing ever created. It was meant to be simple: Superstrength plus blades but doesnt get destroyed, but then everyone was all like "but this word also means and this word means" and then it fell victum to the Rule of 3.

Several things here...
1) IT GETS DESTROYED!!! Nothing about the object indicate that it does not get destroyed. It never did, nor was it ever intended that way. This mistake was the #1 reason people thought the the thing was broken. CONTINUAL has absolutely NOTHING to do with an object's durability. As MadDawg said earlier, "continual" only means what it is defined to mean in the rulebook.
2) Fell victim to the Ro3? It modified the damage value. How could it not be governed by the Ro3? That wasn't lawyered into existence.
3) As for people trying to get it clarified, when it is needed, it is good to get it. That said, it was ruled to work the way it does now from the beginning. It really is a simple card.
Damage would bypass the impervious roll. Meteorite is exploit weakness- lite damage and will go through reagarless of imperv, invulnerability and toughness.
