With Combat Reflexes you have to declare before the attack is made if you want to take knockback? The way I read it sounds like you'd decide after the attack hits. But damage is applied first so that's probably why I get confused.

I did a quock search on WK's Judges Forum before answering, and the only thread I could find with pertinent data states:

Additionally, CR must be showing before the attack in order to be used. The player with CR must declare BEFORE the dice are rolled if he will voluntarily be knocked back. After damage from the attack is applied, if CR is still showing, then the figure is knocked back. (If it is not a straight path, the path is chosen by the attacker.)
