I remember reading on here somewhere that in the new rules a Wildcard can no longer copy an Alternate Team Ability.

So for example if I haev a Spider-Man on a team with a Sue Storm with the Fantastic Four ATA, Spider-Man can no longer benefit from the ATA, and can only copy the original F-4 Team ability.

For the life if me I could not find anything to this in the rule book, but I just may have been missing it.

Can anybody please confirm this one way or another for me.

Page 18: "A team ability used via a wild card team ability can’t be used as a prerequisite for a feat (see Feats, p. 19.)"

While I personally do not feel that this actually reads in a way to cause the restriction, we've been told that this line was put in by the game designers to prevent WC copying ATAs.

O.K. here is my question. If I Alpha Flight my Avengers can a wildcard still mimic the free move?

Yes it can.

Yes. They cannot use the feat that gives the ATA, but they still can copy the base TA.

With this change, I don't think that as many people would complain if the FF ATA was reprinted.

I hate this rule, crimping several theme teams as well as just being unnecessary.

I'd be okay if we still had REV's where we'd get an Avenger Black Panther, and F4 Black Panther and a non-TA Black Panther, but Wildcards have now been used to represent a figure's entire career of team affiliations.

I'd love to see the addition of "unless the Wildcard shares a keyword" added. No reason Power Man and Black Panther shouldn't be able to join their teammates getting the same benefits.

This also would not prevent IC LE Ant Man from being Thunderbolted to JSA giving his Defense to Vet Shazam (Origins) who then passes his T.A to a wildcard that can copy JSA naturally. For every rule there is a hole big enough to drive a truck through. It just means THE END to all those stupid Batman F.F. team where they switch from a 19D to Stealth. A person fielding a 300pt F.F. Batman team could field lots of figures and even if the opponent has a Brick it will be easily swarmed by stealth and high defense.
