just wondering.
Since the invention of attuma and his tidal wave.....
lets say this
someone uses Atlantis rising, which covers all clear terrain with water.
character A is in hindering terrain (trying to be stealthy)
the hindering terrain is only one square deep.
does the quake ever do overlap damage
i don't think so but looking at it and considering its Simultaneous does?
wwwwwwwwwwww A = Character
wwwwwwwwwwww h = hindering terrain
wwwwhhhhhAhwww w = water terrain
wwwwwwwwwwww
wwwwwwwwwwww
the most i could put up for debate would be 4 damage, but i am just checking since quake is similar to EE.
then the question what if he is standing on only one piece of hindering terrain which is now hit from all 4 sides.

it can't be that crazy.
A good defense will only last for so long, before you must crush your enemies outright!

A four-square-base figure like the Sentinel or World's Finest is adjacent to a single-square-base figure. The four-square figure has Quake. It attacks the little guy.

The little guy would not take 4 damage, he would take 2. The big-base character is attacking from two squares, but does not double his damage. Quake deals 2 damage by power text, not by any kind of math regarding number of times targeted or squares available, like Energy Explosion.
--though if I were a judge, I might house rule it that way to encourage Attuma play.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

(Attack) Tidal Wave: Attuma can use Quake and Super Strength. If Attuma uses Quake while occupying water terrain, compare the attack total to adjacent opposing characters normally and to all opposing characters adjacent (but not occupying) the area of water terrain occupied by Attuma. Characters adjacent to the water terrain are knocked back from Attuma in a direction of Attuma’s choice away from him.
There is no "overlap". If you are adjacent to water terrain you are get effected as if you were adjacent to Atuma. It does not matter how many squares of water terrain you are adjacent to.

Huh?
WizKids GamePlay, "You can only play our game if you buy the new stuff. Those old figures are dirty and obsolete."
Record vs VGA d1sc1pL3: W-3 L-0
that makes perfect sense normally, you quake and then its like a larger quake.
My main question comes when its things that would overlap like that
if its everyone one who is adjacent to water terrain are hit with jsut two points and knocked back which ever way attuma wants. Thats cool.
But my question is if it is actually treated like a larger quake.
in this instance it would overlap like EE. I am just pondering, and tired so my ideas may not be clear typed down.

Being adjacent to water terrain(s) only makes you a valid target for Attuma's Quake. You're still hit only once, like every other targets of Quake.
Cap'
Agreed. One attack against the figure regardless of how much water it is next to. If damage stacked up based on how many squares of water the figure was next to then I think we'd see Attuma being teamed up with Tempest a lot more in constructed play since Tempest could really maximize Attuma's damage by moving into position in that situation although it'd most likely still not be a game breaker.

I agree with both of these. The script on the power basically just says that they will be hit by it, not that they are hit for each adjacent square they occupy
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
