This is for those who've read the really cool series of Gotham Central and most specifically issue 6. I'll warn you to leave if you plan on reading this issue, cuz I don't wanna spoil the surprise.
First of all I would like to say that I'm enjoy GCPD Blue very much. It's a very well developed invironment that Ed Brubaker has created. Issue 6 shows us that though Rucka is pretty good Brubaker is way better and it's a little bit of a shock from one to the other. I did like how Nates stardom ended and Renee's begun, like well... a cop show. But anyway my main complaint is about the revelation at the end of #6
WHAT? Ok, c'mon what's with this. Naturally I have no problem with lesbians, and from what I know there's no contradictions in the past, Montaya's been pretty much a career girl. (besides the arguable two-face thing) But I disagree with making her a lesbian. She's always been hardworking, good at her job, tough and maybe a little rough at times, one of Gotham's best cops.
She's always struck me as much a-sexual as a person can be, and this seems like a cheap trick to grab readers. However if it's written well I'll read it cause gotham central is cool.
Naturallly I haven't read every batman comic ever so this may not be the first time this has come up. It may be something that was known by us and not by them, in the book. If so I never saw it.
read the intro zaurial, it's in the latest issue of GCPD Blue (Gotham Central)
Not that I don't agree with the logic behind, Montoya has to much of a solid foundation as a good character for them to pull cheap tricks. BUT (isn't there always a but?) I will read the next issue, it may make more sense.
I 100% agree....being an avid reader of the Batman related titles, Montoya revealed as a lesbian kinda ruined things for me. I got no problems with lesbians, in some cases they could be fun...but I've noticed that there's alotta lesbian revelations in the Batman titles recently so I dunno what DC is doin. Holly from Catwoman, those two business chicks in Harley Quinn etc etc. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't like a lesbian Montoya, it just ain't the same....now if the Body Doubles were lesbians, that'd be a different story :knockedou
