A couple of days ago, I had my first tourney. There was alot of strange break aways that didn't make sense to me. Could some please tell me if I've been cheated.
1 2
X
3
Okay, the X represents my opponent's figure (say and E. Ironman). #1,#2 and #3 are my figures who are base to base with E. Ironman. My opponent rolls a six to break away. Now, in the tournament, my opponent simply went pass #1,#2 and #3 without being re-engaged. How is that possible? Isn't it as soon as they come base to base with my figure again, the become engaged? My opponent didn't use soaring or anything like that.
You were not cheated. When he/she rolled a successful breakaway it was to breakaway from all adjacent opponents. After succeeding in a breakaway, he/she can move through adjacent squares to those that he's broken away from but must stop if he moves adjacent to another one of your figures (that he was not originally in base to base with).

I beleive you are correct. He must stop as soon as he comes adjacent with any other opposing figure. He would be able to move one space and then would have had to stop agian.

But he was originally base to base with 1, 2 and 3 so once he has succeeded in breaking away from them he doesn't have to stop as he's moving past them.

And just to support this with the rule book:
"Only one successful breakaway roll is required to move away from all adjacent opposing characters. Once a character has successfully broken away, you may move that character through squares adjacent to every opposing figure from which it broke away. However, if your character enters squares adjacent to any new opposing figures, it must end its move."
