Ultimate Captain America #001 from the Avengers set valued at 95 points say's that it only has 2 defense powers, yet there is a close combat expert color in there. Wouldn't you use the card because dials are sometimes not correct?
You always go by what is printed on the base/dial unless an erratum has been issued for the character via the player's guide. The most recent player's guides can be found in the units section of this site.

Thanks SFBull. What about all of the pieces that have wrong colors for their powers? The units section have him marked as close combat but it is not on the card at all. How does an errata get issued?

Again, barring errata, go with the dial.
Errata updates were released periodically by Wizkids... now that they are defunct, we have not had any official errata for quite some time.
If/when the NECA deal goes through, there is no telling how they will deal with errata.
The cards can sometimes clear up a problem with a dial though. Quite a few times the grays and browns are very similar and the card can help settle the argument
But if it out and out contradicts the card, dial first (Frankenstein is a good example)
