use some incap and jack it up with perplex after his inv has been outwitted. or try bcf after the outwit, make sure you can get a reroll on that one though. tough to beat with only 3 actions per turn but it can be done
you know, i used thanos oncce (he was a friends) - and I actually didn't last very long. they just outwitted his defense and sicced wolvie on me. it was truly bunk. Thanos should be MUCH tougher than what he is IMHO (don't get me wrong, those stat values are nice)
I draw webcomics - come check out my ongoing stuff and the marvel/dc mini-comic satires I frequently post at Robot Mountain
Originally posted by invisibo he was amazing before outwit became an ability, though outwit was a quick to the sack for him, basically.
Uh, they came out at the same time.
You can whittle away his other guys till he just has Thanos then he'll have to pass eventually. Put a couple of 4 damage guys on your team to alternate attacks.
I think outwit is 2 powerful of a power. They should change the rules for it like only the person who outwitted the target can attack or u have to make a successful attack roll in order for outwit to be successful...... as it stands now Outwit can take down some of the most powerful Clix like they were nothing.
I believe, that whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stranger.
yeah, thanos can get totally sliced up with any number of figs. but it's sure easier with outwit. if in your tournament no one was playing with an outwitter on their team, then yeah, i can see how thanos did so well. there are just so many other more efficient ways of doing damage...
Thanos just takes the right support, however in a 300pt team, he's the centerpiece and has to be treated like one. (Heck in a 500pt team he's the centerpiece).
Perplex and Enhancement make great companions.
Thanos 300 (300)
V Con Artist
LE Elektra
E Psylocke
U Thanos
E Shadowcat
V Paramedic
Here, Elektra adds her Hydra Ability, and Psylocke her Enhancement, along with Con Artist's Perplex to ensure that Thanos is doing 5 damage and doing it often. Psylocke also plays Bodyguard, as does Elektra with her 3 damage at 8 range.
Depending on the situation you'll want Psylocke inbetween Elektra and Thanos for maximum effectiveness. (Thanos can deliever 4, Elektra 4 and then Con Artist can boost whoever she wants). Vulture is to move Thanos around since the other 2 don't require move actions to use thier abilities
For the less.. fortunate among us to have the LEs for Thanos accompaniment :
Thanos 300 (300)
E Con Artist
V Hand Ninja (Ranged)
V Paramedic
E Psylocke
U Shadowcat
U Thanos
In this Upgrade Shadowcat a bit for a few extra options. Again you want Psylocke ideally between Hand Ninja and Thanos (though if Thanos REALLY needs the boost Move Hand Ninja onto his other side).
With Shadowcat as the taxi, this makes for an excellent indoor team to REALLY mess with your opponent. Or a good outdoor team to take up position and nail your opponent as they come near, or if they make you chase them down, Shadowcat gives you the most mobility and the ability to pull Thanos out of a s####e with no breakaway needed.
Beware of Outwitters and V Mandarin and U Phoenix. They can really ruin your day with their 12 range. Especially V Mandarin since he's got Outwit in the same package. Thanos is tough to heal back to his best clix and you have no PC so keep that in mind when you decide kicking in the door and annoucing "I'm with the Band!" might be a good idea.
It's best done with a 400 Pt Team where you can add in Black Cat or Destiny to assist with PC duties.

Saying that Outwit hurts Thanos too much is actually contrary to what a lot of folks say about him (See: Many other threads). A lot of other figures rely on powers more - Thanos has a lot of high values that can't be outwitted.
Outwit can hurt anyone with Invulnerability by turning it off. And Thanos has a long dial and his AV and DV stay high for quite a while (In fact, they go up for a while), so he is actually much less affected by Outwit than many other high priced pieces.
What figure wouldn't be hurt with Invul turned off and Wolverine parked next to them? You should avoid getting tied up with a BCF figure or other brick to begin with!
I think the point is that if you Outwit say .... Thor's Invulnerability, then he still has both Super Strength, and Running Shot. Thanos now has nothing. And once he gets knocked into his Toughness, he can only hurt other figures with Inv on a crit.
I think Outwit would be best if it worked like Perplex, but longer. Ideally, Outwit should allow you to turn off a power until your next turn, or until the Outwitted figure is damaged. Only because it would be too easy to heal a figure for 0 in a multiplayer game. This would prevent figures like Thanos from being totally hosed in multiplayer games, but should only make a little difference in single-player games. It would also prevent people from putting Rookie Black Panther on every friggin' team.
