Undercosted by at least 25 points, Volstagg is by far one of the best pieces in the game. Sure, he has no move and attack, but seriously, three clicks in a row of 18 DV Impervious??? Then three with 17 Invuln?? Damage and attack are way too high, and he didn't deserve that end dial spike. :edit: I just plugged his dial into an accurate cutting edge dial generator and his point cost (without the trait and SP) came out at 124 points! If you have a TKer for him, Volstagg can practically tentpole with Fortitude in 400pt builds.
Very good piece for 300-500 pt builds. Throw on some feats: fortitude, shellhead, inside information (only if you know you're playing against some other Asgardians), Life model decoy, and maybe armor piercing. He's been gold for me so far.
Very deserving for the Lion of Asgard. A mighty warrior in his own right, who is also on occasion very, very lucky. And sometimes it's even better to be lucky than good!
So, so nasty for the points. He's not mobile, but boy, can he take AND deliver hits. Excellent to draw fire while his other two friends get into position to demolish the opposition. And with 11-13 AV (through trait), he'll never miss his chance to hit back.
As all my friends will tell you, my absolute must-have of the set. Sculpt is gorgeous. Playability-wise, on his own, he is a better, cheaper version of CD U Kalibak (a high point tie-up piece with enough damage and damage reduction to hang with the big boys for a while). But it would be silly to play him on his own. With his Warriors Three pals, he becomes a godless engine of destruction on the battlefield. I rated his comic accuracy a little low, as I think his attack value should be a little lower and he should have some sort of self-oriented PC to offset it (to represent his ability to bumble his way to victory). Either way, fantastic piece.
By far my favorite sculpt from the set, if not all of clix. He's a beast no doubt about it. A little TK and he can be sent right up in the face of pretty much anyone you'd care to name and have a decent chance of walking away.
Have yet to see him in real life but that dial is SO good and SO long that for 103 it doesn't seem fair. The Super Rares in this set are all exceptionally powerful with long dials, I guess godhood has it's privileges! Seems the warriors three are kicking @$$ in clicks as they did in the comics, might have to make a Mead & Wenches BC to slow these suckers down, cause on paper thy look pretty unstoppable.
He has a long dial, and great AV, DV and damage, but his complete lack of move and attack makes him less useful. With a TK'er, you lose out on his superstrength. I don't see how a Warriors Three team is viable at 300 - between no range and susceptability to outwit, they shouldn't land a single hit the whole game against a balanced team with any range.
