I was wondering if putting a link in a trade thread to another trade site is considered bad form?
The reason is that i collect a number of different games and it is much easier to have lists all in one place.(not to mention that its obscenely time consuming to set up a haves/wants list here on dial-up internet)
I was notified that
"Not cool to link your haves/wants list from another site to this one. I don't think HCREALMS admins like it much that you are sending traffic to a competing site!"

The "competing site" has an almost non-existant hc general forum, and the amount of hc trades i have ever been offered are few and far between.
So how do you feel about it?

I know many HCRealms members have accounts at that other site... I am one myself.
I don't see a problem with putting up a link... It's no different than asking people to click the H/W-button IMO. As long as you don't encourage people to join that other site, that is... The admins may have an issue with that.

Keep in mind though that not everyone is familiar with how the inventory systems work at other sites, so just putting up a link may not net you as many trades as putting up an actual list as people can't or won't look through the linked list. Just as a helpful tip. You could always keep a list of the good stuff here and ask people to click the link for a full inventory.

I won't be surprised if I was the one who said you can't link to other sites.

My whole problem with other sites, especially if it s the site that I am thinking about. It is very hard to go through lists on that site and pick out things because of how the figures are arranged.

I think that creating a word document of the figures you want will help then cutting and pasting will get you more trade offers than people who have to go to another site.

Going to another site for a trade list usually hits my "eBay would be easier" trigger - if it would be easier for me to just buy the figure I want on eBay, I'm not going to bother.
