Tempest's special ability reads as such

SUMMON THE ELEMENTS: Tempest can use Charge. Clear grounded terrain 3 or fewer squares from Tempest that does not contain objects, terrain markers, or debris tokens is water terrain.

My question is...

say I have a Starro Aquaman occupying one of those squares around tempest and he happens to be holding an object, is the square he is standing in considered to be containing an object or is Aquaman considered to be in water terrain?

If the object is being held, the square doesn't contain it. Aquaman would be in water terrain.
