Ran this today, let me tell you SICK....
Took down a spy team of Ms.marvel, Winter Soldier, Agent Brand, and Pawn 502, then Black Widow.
This was 400 point team of
BA/GA,4x GPD, Nightwing (detective theme team)
ran this many times
do you mean GCD? the black dude in a suit? That piece is awesome.
I used to call him Samuel L. Jackson until I got Sinister Nick Fury.
I use to play magic competitively, and the thing that I hated most about the game, were "strictly better than" cards.
For example: in Heroclix, having two figures worth the same amount of points, having the same name, same key words, same sculpt, but one has all the abilities of the first, just better stats.
No one would use the first one.
Well - the same thing has happened to the abilities in heroclix!!! And I want an explanation.
If we have outwit - why do I ever want exploit weakness? It is a strictly worse ability. In fact, outwit is over 4 times better because it can nullify any ability (or team ability). Not only that- It is also in the damage spot!
The same goes with psychic blast. Just give me outwit.
---->Way to resolve it? Outwit does not work on defense powers. Done.
What about Enhancement? When I first saw that zatanna had it, i was like "THIS IS SO COOL". And I put her next to green arrow and watched the damage fly!
Then I realized...wait a minute... enhancement is a WORSE than perplex! wtf!
So why....why would I ever want that.
Please keep in mind that I am speaking from a "gaming" point of view, not "flavor". Because - you can make the argument "well war machine shouldn't have outwit... it's not flavorful" . And I would agree. Thus - you see the problem. Wizkids needs to fix or re-adjust some of these powers to stop this horrible over lapping.
(while they are at it - tell them to nurf hypersonic speed)
Let me just put it out there - a team of hypersonic speed and outwit is all you need!

What does this even mean???
Are you saying that War Machine isn't a very good piece because he doesn't have Outwit?
1. Incapacitate (perhaps the most common power in the game, Stunning Blow feat makes it even better)
2. Ranged Combat Expert (figure with damage value 1 or more)
3. Close Combat Expert (figure with damage value 1 or more)
4. Super Strength (DV 2 with light object, DV 1 with heavy object)
5. Pulse Wave (ignores all powers and TAs)
6. Exploit Weakness (is ignored by the Fortitude feat)
7. Psychic Blast
8. Perplex
9. Enhancement
10. SHIELD Team Ability
11. Hypersonic Speed
12. Blades/Claws/Fangs (roll 3 or more)
13. Overlapped Energy Explosion
14. Mind Control opposing figures with above powers
15. Mind Control opposing figure with IMP and turn off IMP
16. Capture with a Sentinel/Sinestro
17. Mystics/CrossGen TA (delivers unavoidable damage in retaliation)
18. Haymaker feat (with printed damage value greater than 0)
19. Pounce feat (with printed damage value 2 or 1 with Super Strength and Light Object)
20. Rip It Up feat (with printed damage value 2)
21. In Contact With Oracle feat (with damage value greater than 1)
22. Armor Piercing feat
23. Damage value greater than 2 (with no powers)
Some of these have gone away with the latest incarnations. HSS, no longer. Overlapped EE is virtually impossible without Enhancement working anymore; you have to have 3 and all I can think of with that is IC V Ultron. You also can't turn off IMP anymore. Neat trick that was, dang.
So give us this awesome team... and I guarantee you someone can build a team to beat it. That's what's great about this game. Not to mention, no matter how great your team is, if you roll like ####, you're going to lose.
or you make bad tactical decisions as you move around the map.
What about Enhancement? When I first saw that zatanna had it, i was like "THIS IS SO COOL". And I put her next to green arrow and watched the damage fly!

Well for one thing, Perplex can only be used once by a figure a turn. Enhancement can be used automatically on any adjacent figure. Using in tandem, they are deadly. The Perplexer increases the Attack (or any other value) of the first attacker, and the Enhancer will increase the Damage by 1 for every adjacent figure firing at the target. The Enhancer is great for a turtle of lesser figures with 2 damage allowing them to do some damage on a figure with Invulnerability. Three figures dinging a target with Invulnerability is still 3 damage! If the Enhancer wasn't there these figures would just sit around looking at each other shrugging their shoulders. AND, You can STACK the Enhancement. It has it's uses.
All I can say in reply to the OP's first post... "Wow." Come play me... and I'll show you what I'd do to your team with Exploit Weakness and Enhancement, and you can take all the Outwit you want.

One thing I like to do with EW or PB is use that first, and then outwit for the other characters on my team who do not deal penetrating damage.

What we do in life echoes in eternity!
Respect is a given, only disrespect can be earned.
Try to be best
'Cause you're only a man
And a man's gotta learn to take it
Try to believe
Though the going gets rough
That you gotta hang tough to make it
History repeats itself
Try and you'll succeed
Never doubt that you're the one
And you can have your dreams!
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight 'til the end
Cause your life will depend
On the strength that you have inside you
Ah you gotta be proud
starin' out in the cloud
When the odds in the game defy you
Try your best to win them all
and one day time will tell
when you're the one that's standing there
you'll reach the final bell!
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ho-how-ho-own
INSPIRING GUITAR SOLO during montage of Clixes being turned to KO
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight 'til you drop
never stop
can't give up
Til you reach the top (FIGHT!)
you're the best in town (FIGHT!)
Listen to that sound
A little bit of all you got
Can never bring you down
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
*blink* why do I hear those lyrics overlapped onto "knight of the wind" from Sonic and the Black Knight?
@OP: Right.... right. I'll keep that in mind if ever we cross paths. I'll be sure that I drop down my Heralds, the likes of which you CAN'T outwit, and psychic blast your pieces to shreds between Stardust and the Surfer. And I'll have the Yellow Lantern and Indigo Lantern along just so that my attack values go up by 1 while they have PB.... the easier to blow through your reducers.
Or, maybe the classic bit, Unleashed LE Hal Jordan with the old Trickshot loaded on, carrying around a fleet of GCPD for enhancement... and once that's done, the Hand Ninji on the back end next turn slip to the front to form the shield while ya try to wade in to counter-attack.
Seriously... Just because Outwit is what it is doesn't render exploit and PB useless. it renders them MORE dangerous, because being able to shut off OTHER powers while you're still assured to do your full damage regardless of damage reducers is just THAT DAMN SWEET

"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.
His original point was that in a tournament scene, Outwit, Perplex, and HSS are essentially your sharpest tools in the shed.
Gencon 2008's top 2 teams featured: R Shazam X2, Dr. Alchemy, and feats vs Klarion, Dawnstar, Karate Kid, Kid Flash, and more feats.
Both of those teams featured HSS (2 pieces each) and the 2nd team sported a Perplexer.
While none of those teams had Outwit, they did have HSS, which leads me to the point that I think he did get very right: HSS just might be superior Charge and RS, even after both castrations to HSS.
Move, attack, AND move again? No thanks I'd rather just move and attack. Oh wait! I can just move and with HSS and just stop. Oh man! What a deal! I have to pay a little more for it? Watch me care.
Though she was only mentioned a couple of times, Ms. Skrullvel? She's a piece to play or play against. HSS AND Outwit plus Stealth for cheaper than most Superman's.
Sure there are tons of ways to beat her, or get around HSS, but one of the things players are on the lookout for is cheap and efficient outwit, perplex, and HSS (not to mention cheap and efficient in general).
The Question, Shazadam, OotS Bats, you name the newest cheapest piece that does one of those 3 dirty things and players are all about it!
While there's more to building a tournament-winning team than these three powers, they are to be considered, either on your force or your opponent's.
All he did was point out the obvious, but, well, he's not totally wrong.
"With minimal power, comes minimal responsibility."

The problem with Skrullvell is not Hypersonic and Outwit, we've had that before, nor was it Hypersonic and stealth, we've also dealt with that. It wasn't even the three of them together, it was Hypersonic, Stealth, Outwit, and Indomitable. Each of these powers makes all the others better. She's a lot like Lockjaw in that regard. Long dials are good, toughness is good, Big movement is good, transporter is good, mix all those things together and you have something a little too good.
Iron River Read my wife's comic or I will say mean things about your dog.
I suckered these guys into playing: Feedback Damage

Kid Zoom and two Barrier pieces would shut most of that down now.
While your point is sound to some degree, his was not. His point was Enhancement, Exploit, Psychic Blast are a waste of points and not necessary. "Methinks that be a crock."
