I'm not very experienced with the meta-game and have only played in a few tourneys but im curious why Metron seemed to be very popular and is mentioned as one of the top figures in the meta and while darkseid is considered very good isnt mentioned at all when it comes to the meta?
With the better stats deeper dial longer range and pushability of darkseid (to help compete with metron who has the Q TA) on paper he seems better then metron who has all those options power wise and that great TA plus that 15pts you save but shallow dial and just 8 range (which yeah isnt bad but with no move and attack wont 10+ give you some serious trouble plus characters who can move and attack?).
actually I wouldn't consider Metron to be a top meta game piece. I think the reasons go something like this:
At the time of Crisis you have to realize that Darkseid was "INCREDIBLE" but far overshadowed by such figures as KC and E2 Superman, as well as Spectre. He was very playable but in tourneys people more often than not were trying to deal with ways of fighting the supermen.
When Arkham Asylum came out, metron was probably one of the top tier pieces of the set (next to the chase batmen and superboy prime). Prime wasn't really seen that often (at least around these parts) so the only real threat was Metron and an occasional batman.
If you really want an honest opinion, then darkseid will hand metron his chair every time they face off.
It will depend on the point value of the game. In 400, Darkseid can have a team that can build around him properly. You can build a decent team for Metron in 300. Lack of move-and-attack powers on both figures parts hurt them a little bit.
I had both figures at one point and traded them off. They are good, don't get me wrong, but there are better options.
Metron was really strongest in sealed AA tourneys. In the current Meta, he's not so much a contender. His biggest strengths include the Q and all the support powers he has access to, but since his Pulse Wave is conditional (potentially self-hurting).
Darkseid's weakness is his vulnerability to Outwit. That's the long and short of it.
Given the cost of both, neither is especially powerful in the current meta. Check out this thread (you probably already did).

Yeah I did read that thread and saw metron get some props but Darkseid wasnt mentioned and while both figures are different they are very similar in quite a few ways and I think Darkseid is better and curious why he isnt a force in the top end game which you answered hehe.

A couple of things...
1) Metron should beat Darkseid 1 on 1 almost every time. Metron moves to within 8 of Darkseid and Outwits his Perplex and Perplexes up his own Defense. Now Darkseid needs to roll an 8 or better twice to hit (around 20% chance). Metron needs to roll an 8 or better on two rolls (closer to 80% chance). Metron will be using Psychic Blast/Pulse Wave and won't be taking Pushing Damage, Darkseid will be using Penetrating at -2 damage and will only ignore Pushing damage on a few clicks. It shouldn't be much of a contest.
2) Metron is a top piece, period, exclamation mark )
Seriously, if he isn't a top piece then I have no idea who is.
3) Darkseid is great on certain teams, but seems to require 400+ pt games to shine.
