Just a quick question. Did a search but couldn't find the answer.

Our judge has been saying that as special objects are now considered part of "your" force, only you can gain their benefits. The Black Lantern is the one that has come up the most recently. This seems to pretty clearly contradict characters being able to use other people's meterorite's, vines, and laser turrets. Can someone give me a breakdown on whether or not he's right and why?

SPECIAL OBJECTS
Special objects are objects (either tokens or 3-D objects) marked with the [gear] symbol. They represent items on the battlefield that create special effects or grant characters carrying or using them special abilities. Regardless of which player places a special object, any player can use its abilities, and all players are subject to its effects.

Don't know about benefits, but I do know you can pick up the lanterns and blather people about the head/neck/ears with them! My favorite use!
