Under the Blackest Night rulebook Nico Minoru can no longer use her Staff of One special power to qualify for feats. However, can she still use Staff of One to gain access to a power and thus get a benefit from particular lantern special objects?

For example, say you have Nico and the Violet Lantern on your force. If you choose Mind Control with Staff of One, and Nico is within four squares of the Violent Lantern special object, does she get the icnreased range?

If she qualifies, it would give Nico the ability to siphon off all the other lanterns. Much like a pseudo Indigo Lantern. Cool!

Except the Violet (Love) Lantern increases attack, not range.

I don't have a Violet Lantern, but this is what the Brave and the Bold dials list threead says:

Nico can use the power she chooses. If using is all that the lanterns require, I see no reason why she couldn't benefit from them.

Nico+Lantern = OH YEAH! Actually its a minor bonus but whatever.

I had this question as well. I assume based on the wording that if Nico uses Staff of One to use a power that qualifies for the lantern then she would get the bonus (provided she met other conditions like being within range). Any deputies think otherwise?

She can use the power she chooses with Staff of One, yes, whatever that power might happen to be.
