With only 50 minute time limits, games need to be ushered along at a reasonable pace - not rushed, but consistent and steady. Any discussions or comments that do not pertain to the game at hand are pointless side chatter that (either intentionally or unintentionally) waste time and will ultimately limit the amount of turns that each player has available. Players need to do their fan boy chit-chat in between games, not during.
I started the thread that got Bane's venom pump fixed

You make it sound like 50 minutes is a short period of time. It's rare for our group of players to have games even take 40 minutes, let alone the full 50 alloted. Don't get me wrong, there are a few players who need the full 50 minutes, but they're usually the newer players who need to think out each possible action. Some advice during/after a game and their next match goes a bit quicker.
And by "during the game" I mean "if I'm playing them".
Vulture: I'll drop you from the sky and watch you drop like a rag doll! Spider-Man: And this'll be when? After Ock rips me limb from limb? Or after Venom eats my brains? Oh, I almost forgot; he also has dibs on my spleen...
Hahaha, that's all funny, im the guy at my place that plays the WoS Nightcrawler, (not every game to save myself some greif of you guys, lol) and i gotta say i love him, the best time i used him was against my friend matt, it was me and my girlfriend vs. Matt and our friend casey, on the destroyed xmansion map, turn before we position all our characters in one room, matt rushes in with his martian manhunter (the ones that's half black lantern half regular) to attack my gf wonder woman, he misses and i sent night crawler after him, a successful hit dealing no damage, but i brought him right in the middle of the room we were in, next to wonder woman, a hit with wonderwoman, hit with iron spider, a hit with a black cat, and then girl hawkeye, next turn he has to rest and using willpower with girl hawkeye my girlfriend deliveres the killing blow and we knocked his strongest player on their team, coolest strategie of any game iv played in a long time, needless to stay the game ended in a stalemate cuz i couldn't hit his characters and he couldn't catch me
If there is someone outside your game giving you tips and suggestions on how you should be playing, then you are being coached. I remember the old Organized Play rules discussing "Coaching" as a rules violation, with the consequences being warnings or forfeits based on the judge's determination.
If someone at your venue is constantly coaching your opponent, you should talk to your judge.
I know that most of the players at our venue will help/coach thier opponent (in a positive and helping way), especially if they are new, because, for the most part, we are all very laid back. However, we would never coach someone else's game. That would be unethical.
If she is having trouble remembering to complete actions at the various phases of her turn, she should use crib notes, color coded. A 3x5 card with begining of turn at the top and have things like "poison" and "take down my barrier" listed at the top. She can even attach an alligator clip to the section of her crib notes and another to the card of the character that has the power that she continually forgets to use(poison).
Forgeting to do something sucks, but the game is meant to be fun.
