This week silly question concerns Norman Osborne AE, Thunderbolts ATA and Alter-Ego mechanic.
Here's the situation : I use Thunderbolts to copy Masters of Evil team ability (because I am evil).
Quote
Masters of Evil : When a character using the Masters of Evil team ability has two action tokens on it, it can still be given a non-free action. If you do, deal it one unavoidable damage after the action resolves. At the end of your turn, do not remove action tokens from a character that used this team ability this turn.
Finally, his Alter-Ego power shows up. At that point, he has two action tokens and a Sanity token on his character card (meaning he can only transform into Iron Patriot).
I give him a power action to activate his AE power, using the MoE TA to be allowed to do it. I replace him with Iron Patriot, as per the rules.
Iron Patriot doesn't have the Tunderbolts keyword. He therefore doens't possess the Thunderbolts ATA. So he cannot use the MoE TA granted by it.
Here's the question : will Iron Patriot take thje unavoidable damage the MoE TA is supposed to deal or not ?
My guess is he will, but I am not completly sure : technically, once the action is resolved, he can no longer use the MoE TA so that part of its effect might not be triggered at all.
So ? Does he take the damage ?
Can I even do that at all ?
You know everyone loves to be the villain. Hugh Grant
When a character using the Masters of Evil team ability has two action tokens on it, it can still be given a non-free action.
OK, so using TBolts, we do this. We give the character a free action.
If you do, deal it one unavoidable damage after the action resolves.
Now, if this piece had said "Characters using this ability are dealt one unavoidable damage after teh action resolves", it would perhaps be like you are suggesting. But it's not. The ability is saying that "IF YOU DO [give it a non-free action while it has 2 tokens then] DEAL ..."
At the end of your turn, do not remove action tokens from a character that used this team ability this turn.
Lastly, Iron Patriot is still a character that used the team ability this turn, so he would not clear.
