OK, so let's say I have the need (and when I say need, I mean NEED) to attack my own dudes, why the hell can't I???
It would be totally useful, and let's say that one of my figs really makes me mad (villians, of course). I could execute him in the middle of play.
The only reason I see why I can't do this is for victory points. Is there some other logic at work here???
I started in tabletop games with Necromunda (Citadel, PLEASE bring this game back!!!) and somehow I keep comparing that game to this one... It IS very similar and the sheer chaos of Necro would be much welcomed here. Can someone please explain this to me in a way that makes sense??? If you just state that "the rules say so" then I guess I'll settle, but I'll be hella pissed. And I mean HELLA.
The rules say so. And the reason the rules say so is because it would be a tactic rife for abuse and would invalidate a lot of the game. It would be a gigantic case of sacrificing game and comic reality for the sake of tactics, and wouldn't add anything significant to the game.
The family nature of the FF ability is not meant to entice you into executing a teammate. Mind Control should not be made usable against your own figures, letting you circumvent all of the rules for pushing.
The problem of the player knowing more than the figures is already significant without adding in EE attacks against your own figures to circumvent Stealth. Punching a normal guy in the face because you've got a good idea that he'll turn into a raging giant aimed at the other team. Shooting your ally in the head because he's kind of standing in the way.
I know there are comic examples where these things might happen. And that's fine. But there's certainly no more logic for letting it happen than there is for restricting it, and letting it happen would break a lot of game mechanics.

I've also wondered about this rule and thanks for explaining it. Though, I think I might make it a house rule in a recreation of the Secret Wars game that Dr. Doom can attack Kang with Ultron during the middle of the game just to make it run like the story. Sometimes when you want your games to turn out like some comics, you've just gotta break some rules.
"You Homo Sapiens and your guns."
"I am vengence... I am the night... I am Batman!"
"It's still heavy." "But you're so big." Good Trader List
Game mechanics, lame schmecanics...
Yeah, so that's ONE way of thinking of it... And I thought I stressed VILLIANS using this tactic... Sheesh...
Anyway, thanks for answering my question. It really DOES make sense and I kinda thought of all of this as soonas I posted. Yeah, so you're most likely the most helpful dude around here and junk. Again.
Like I said, there are gonna be some comic examples that make it really cool to hit your own guys. I used a Hulk example, but having someone like Nick Fury punch Bruce Banner in order to get him pumped up has happened, and it might be fun to recreate scenes like that. TwinkyMaster's Secret Wars example sounds really bizarre, but might work out pretty well.
If you want villains to betray their team, or you want to roleplay some stuff with the figures, go for it, man. Have fun with it. I came back with mechanics and things, but I'd never stop you from having fun if you wanted to try it out differently.

haha, great attitude and I wish I'd have seen Fury punch Banner, that sounds like and even better seen than bad guys blowing each other away because it's much more rare.

You know, I was just scouring the new rules, and they come to an interesting combo on this issue.
The new rules state, on page 7 under Targeting Friendly Characters, "You cannot target a friendly character with a damaging attack". Note the word "damaging".
On the Powers card for Mind Control, "A successful attack does no damage."
Since Mind Control now does not give action tokens or push,
1+1+1 equals: A team of tiny Mind Controllers like Jervis, Philip and Pamela, and a bruiser like Despero. Despero attacks, then again, then again, then again!!!
