Well there maybe some fans of pin-headed, skinny wrist, no feet, huge shouldered, man, I could go on all day about how much of a pox on the comic industry Liefeld is. And if I'm bored enough I just might.
"Heroism is calling. Will you accept the charges?"
i was gonna say "dont get me started", but it seems you have! should give props spidey17 for startin' this thread. thanx spidey17 hope we were able to answer your question by now.
Man I don't even know where I got my info. I think I assumed Gail would write, since she came back to Agent X. I like Fabian's writing anyway. Nomad was on of the best hidden secrets of comics. It took a hard look at us as Americans. Many were pissed off, but it was the truth.
I'm not a big fan of his, but I wonder how many Liefeld haters were card carrying fans before, and lie about it now for fear of being shunned.
His art was weak, and his dialogue horrendous, but he was good with finding talent and some neat ideas. Supreme, Glory, and New Men were all great books. Eric Stephenson, RobertNapton, Jeff Matsuda, Todd Nauck, and Brian Murray all turned out good books. I just ignored Youngblood like a bad dream.
I found where I got my info. In the latet Wizard in Buzz Bin, it said Simone would be writing DP/C. Of course the whole point of Buzz Bin is unconfirmed rumors. The only way to know who is really writing the book is to wait for the day it arrives in stores.
As I let everyone know over at the RIP heroclixtradingpost I did some research.
I went over to the US Trademark site to check once and for all who owned Cable.
And it's Marvel.
Also as another point of interest all characters created by Liefield for Youngblood and so on were all registered to Liefeld. But they've now all run out of copyright so technically he doesn't even own those anymore.
For the record though I've got to say that I've got most of the youngblood comics and they are enjoyable. Especially Youngblood 0-4. Sure you get all the liefeld problems like giant pictures. And literally every single pane has something nicked from Marvel - check the Youngblood logo they all wear on their sleeves. All spin offs apart from the badrock ones were ####e and he wholeheartedly deserves his reputation - but it started well.
But it will be much nicer to see Cable back where he belongs and then becoming a clix. After all he's just as Marvel as Cyclops whatever people choose to believe.
I think a great many who didn't like X-Force, never tried Cable's own book later. He changed and developed so much as a character. He's actually a reverse trend character. He started off shooting everything, and comes to realise that it just doesn't work.
I didn't get Soldier X because my budget ran out, but the last year or so of Cable was great stuff. I liked him taking the longer view to helping the whole world, and visiting troubled hot spots.
Just to clarify this. From what I heard Lifeld never owned Cable or Deadpool but everytime Marvel used the name Deadpool, Cable or X-force thay had to pay Liefeld some small amount of money. They no longer wanted to do this (I assume because of that stupif fighting "captain" american rip off) so cable and Deadpool became Agent X and Soldier X (no idea which is which) and X-force became X-statix (they even mention something like this in one of the x-statix comics as a pot shot at Liefeld).

or just look at the obvious clues. funny how they all point to Fabian, but maybe youre right. maybe dynamic forces has it all wrong along with Previews as well. or maybe he couldnt handle writin' two $#!tty books, hes writin' Hawkeye as well, and had have Gail step in. maybe?
