I've read the first three issues of the new series, and I love them, who would've thought real world's Judd would have coem so far.
I don't think Metamorpho has ever been written this well, and I've always been a big fan of Arsenal and Nightwing.
I know most of the characters in it, or at least enough to read a team book easy enough, but I was told it's not the first DC book titled the outsiders, I was wondering who the original team was?

As far as I know, the first use of that name was for "Batman and the Outsiders", in the mid-ninties.

Batman quit the Justice League, and headed up a new team consisting of Black Lightning, Katana, Halo and Geo-Force. There may have been others, but I think that's it.

Sadly, that series was probably Mike W. Barr and Jim Aparo at their worst.

The Outsiders returned for a second run of twenty issues. It was a great book that got swamped by the glut and collapse of the early nineties.

I hated the new book, because the only "outsider" there is Metamorpho. If they wanted a whole new team, they should have made a new name.

I liked The Outsiders books, because they went around the world helping people, and if they had to break laws, and step on political toes to do it, they would.

I do disagree about he criticism of Barr/Aparo. Mke Barr was a great writer, and their creator. Both men are still my favorite when it comes to doing Batman hmself right as well. Until the Loeb/Lee run, the Bat Books suffered immensely from Barr's departure. His best runwas on Detective in the eighties with Alan Davis on art. His best story ever was Batman Annual #8 where he fights Ghul to the death.

OHHHHHHH the Outsiders!!! In my country Argentina the Outsiders (Batman and The Outsiders) Was the 1st comic boock of DC Comics in 20 years! (In Argentina we dont have easy ways for find comics DC Marvel, the only way is buy import/xport comics)

This "Amazing" Team Was Batman (quick the JLA) and the other members of the Team was Metamorpho, Katana, Halo, GeoForce, Black Lighting and after Looker

Well, it's also a Metamorpho with little to no memory if I'm not mistaken.
Black Lightning was replaced by his daughter with the same powers.
Nightwing replaced Bats, and Bats even smiled at the name in issue 3.
But I can't argue, it's definetly a diffrent lineup, I just can't agree that makes the premise bad, I mean, look at the JLA, I quit reading for the Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner years, and now I wish I hadn't, it was some of the funniest stuff in DC history.

Oh Outsiders I love this book, better than that run that Briel mentioned. Oh Mugwump if you laughed at the beetle booster jla book than you should try the book formerly known as the justice it's a hoot. And it features booster and the beetle working side by side. On a personal note I would love to see halo appear in some way shape or form . That gal was smoking have fun BJ

This is a great series! i really have been enjoying the DC stuff alot more than Marvel stuff as of late. I need to get a hold of #1 though!

I couldn't get issue 1 it sold out to fast, so I'm mostly waiting for it to come out in trade, it's only a six issue run I think.

yeah, it's a riot. I am not sure of the issue count though.
Note if you like anghst stories you'll hate this but if you like inane banter and mary marvel than this books for you.
