When I hear the name war games I think back to WCW wrestling. Specifically, a cage match between the NWO and the Four Horsemen. Four men from each faction participated in the event. The idea was that one person from each team entered and started the match and wrestled one another for a designated time until another member of a team was sent out. This could lead to any number of combinations such as three on one or four on one until all eight members were in the ring or pinned out.
Anyway the idea for heroclix would be similar but with an alternative possibility. Please post comments on how these ideas could be approved upon in game play.
First Idea:
The game needs to be played with four or more players.
For every two players a 24*24 map is needed. Plus one 34*34 map (I may be wrong on what the size of the maps are).
This idea would have the players roll off and pair into teams. After the teams have been determined by the dice roll another dice roll is made by the players from opposing teams to pair them off to play against one another. The two players with the highest roll play each other and continues down the player list until all players have been paired against one another. In the case of a tie a roll off happens with the tied players.
After the pairings the players pick their maps to play on. Players play against each other until there is a winner between the players. The winning players take the heroclix pieces that were not ko’ed and leave them on the click that they ended the game on. That player goes to the big map and waits for a player from the opposing team to win and come to the big map. When opposing players face each other on the big map they can be joined by their teammates to challenge the opposing players. The win will be determined by the winning team. In the case that only players from one team make it to the big map with no opponents to play than that team is determined the winner.
Second Idea:

The two players with the highest roll play each other and continues down the player list until all players have been paired against one another. In the case of a tie a roll off happens with the tied players to determine who plays who.
After the pairings the players sit down at the big map opposite one another. The players face off against each other but are not allowed to attack opposing characters until their opponent has been defeated. Opposing players and teammates do not block line of sight for any purpose during this period of time. Once an opponent has been defeated that player is able to help his teammates by attacking the opposing team’s players at that point opposing players and teammates do block line of sight. This continues until a winning team is determined by eliminating their opponents.
