Hey guys,

Here with a questions about the In-Betweener's mystics damage and the soul gem. In the scenario where someone attacks In-Betweener and gets KO'd from In-Betweener's mystics TA, does In-Betweener then heal two damage if he has the soul gem (and really, when would you NOT have him with the gem???)? Really considering running him for month 3 of IG, and this would either make or break my decision. Thanks guys!

no, because steal energy is only activated by a successful close combat attack, where as Mystics TA is activated when damage is done to the character

STEAL ENERGY: Each time an opposing character takes damage from a close combat attack made by this character, heal this character of 1 damage.

When a character using the Mystics team ability takes damage from an attack, the attacker is dealt 1 unavoidable damage. This damage is not an attack.

I believe the OP is talking about the second part of the Gem's power, not the Steal Energy part.

In this case, yes, the In-Betweener is KOing the character, so he should get to heal the 2 clix for KOing an opposing character.

That's true, but the question concerns the other side of the soul gem. I believe it says whenever the character possessing the soul gem KO's an opposing character then they heal two damage. The rules of the soul gem in no way say that you can only heal two damage after you eliminate an opposing character while using steal energy. That's why there are posts of successful uses of the In-Betweener using Pulse Wave to eliminate two characters then healing four clicks of damage.

In other words, my question only concerns the event of an opposing character getting knocked out from the mystics TA. My assumption is that In-Betweener would heal two damage from a character receiving mystics damage and being eliminated due to that damage. Anyone else believe the same thing?

Yes. If the character is KO'd from Mystics damage, the character using Mystics KO'd the other character.
