Carry
When moving as a result of being given an action, this character may carry one friendly character. When this ability is used, modify this character's speed value by –2 until the end of the action. Only characters with a combination of the following symbols can be carried: , , , , , , . If a character has any other combat symbols or is holding an object it cannot be carried. To be carried, the friendly character must be adjacent to this character at the beginning of this character's action. When this character ends its movement for the action, the carried character must be placed in a square adjacent to this character. While being carried, a carried character is not adjacent to any character nor can it draw a line of fire until placed at the end of this character's movement for the action. A character which has been carried this turn can't be given an action (other than a free action) until the beginning of the next turn.
So when did this rule change.I thought I remember it saying the character being carried must be placed in a square withing the speed value of the person carrying. Was this one rule that has been simplified? Its good if it works as implied with no other rule about being placed within thier speed value. Just something i missed.

That never has been a rule.
The rule has always been placed adjacent to the figure that carried them.

It was changed when the -2 movement was added, this way it counter-balances without having to keep track of two characters movements.
Of maybe you are thinking of multi-based characters.
I'm not sure if that was ever a rule or not.

To be carried, the friendly character must be adjacent to this
character at the beginning of this character’s action. When this
character ends its movement for the action, the carried character
must be placed in a square adjacent to this character that the
carried character can occupy and at the same elevation
per fan four rulebook
the old rule implies that the carried character can be placed anywhere the carrying character can be legally place which would be anywhere in his own speed value -2? So it has changed from this?

The only difference between the old wording and the new wording is that the character actually using the Carry ability must modiy its speed value by -2. The character that is Carried was (and must still) be placed in a square adjacent to the character that used Carry.
To be carried, a friendly character must be adjacent to the flying character at the beginning of the flying character’s move. During the move action, count the flier’s movement squares as normal, including flight mode changes. At the end of the move, the flying character must be in hover mode, and must place the carried character in an adjacent open square.
Carry has always been carrying character adjacent to carried character at start of move, move carrying character, place the carried character adjacent to them. The only difference now is that there is a -2 move penalty while carrying.
Oh, and, just for laughs, here is the next couple sentences
Flying figures can carry other flight-capable figures.
A carrying character cannot carry a figure who is carrying someone else or holding an object. The flying character receives an action token, but the carried character does not. The carried character may still be assigned any type of action after being set down.
For people new to clix, you used to be able to carry flyers and take an action after being carried!

i respect your input very much normview. I noticed this difference though. The bolded areas seem to make a difference enough in wording to change how it is handled.
All that being said i just never noticed the change, and does it the make a difference proposed?
There is no difference.
The extra stuff in the old rules is actually superfluous. (If you aren't on the same elevation, you aren't adjacent.) That is why it is gone.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . 1 2 3 .
. B A . . . . . . 4 a 5 .
. . . . . . . . . 6 7 8 .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
A has a speed of 10. If A carries B, the speed becomes 8.
When A gets to "a" any of the 8 squares is a legal drop off. It was that way under the FF rules. It is that way now.
ya i just mixed up the words carried and implanted carrying with my mind. Awful tricks my eyes play sometimes.
thank you
