I....don't.....get...it. I'm sorry if this may offend, but why post/internet brag about your W/L ratio? Especially with a having 5-8 point wins and a couple roll off's. I get that to you a win is a win but honestly do those wins make you feel accomplished? And I get your post about the chess player, I really do(I'm a measly class C rating >.<) but this isn't chess. How do you deal with a truly strategic yet aggressive player, especially one who would sacrifice a pawn to break your shell?
Redwing KO List: Captain America(Bucky), Rojhaz, Viper
I'm not VGA, but it's not a hard question to answer if you think about it. There's a difference between a conservative, opportunistic playstyle and turtling out of blind dogmatism.
“When [the enemy is] strong, avoid them. If of high morale, depress them. Seem humble to fill them with conceit. If at ease, exhaust them. If united, separate them. Attack their weaknesses. Emerge to their surprise.”

No offense taken. A quick clarification of this thread's purpose:
As far as my play style is concerned, it varies from opponent to opponent. I can handle, and do handle, very push-happy and aggressive players. In those instances, I must rely on my quick wit and tactical skills. If I fail to do this, then I lose the game. If I succeed, I can win the game.
As far as turtling, it just so happens that the vast majority of HeroClix players, no matter what venue you attend, are impatient and lack good tactics... and they'll waltz right into your trap. I play a wide-range of players, from noobs, moderate, and highly-skilled players. Sometimes I lose to the noobs, sometimes I lose to the really good players.
As for the roll-offs, most of the roll-offs are against the same person, with a couple of exceptions. One guy I play a lot is a huge turtle... and takes a long time on his turns, even to the point of stalling at times, hence the high percentage of roll-offs against said person.
But is what makes me a good player (I won't say great player, because I don't consider myself a great player), but a good player is that I know how to adapt to different situations, I have good tactical wit, a very strong grasp of the rules, years of experience, and I have Yomi, which is the ability to predict what my opponents are going to do before they even do it.
But I must stress... this thread was created for the sole purpose of sharing my comic-accurate theme teams (sans my Avengers Issue teams, which I have a webpage devoted to here: My Avengers Issue Comic Cover Teams.

I will only turtle if it is tactically sound to do. Depending on my team, my opponents team, my opponents play style, the map chosen, the skill of my opponent, among other variables, I'll play differently. Sometimes I'm aggressive, some times I'm cautious, sometimes I outright turtle.
Sometimes I'll push a lot, sometimes I won't push in an entire tourney. It's all about tactics and probabilities, and when and when not to do something.

In-Betweener; Iron Man/War Machine, Namor and Silver Surfer... all could be considered accurate the same way playing any generalized solo book or team-up could be. It's like playing Superman and saying it's a comic accurate Superman team. Fair, but kinda uncreative. Just lowering the standard and skating by on the bare minimum.
Speaking of bare minimums, how the hell do you play one figure and end in a roll-off?
