When GCPD Riot Officer is within 8 squares of a higher point character that possesses the Police team ability, he does not need to be adjacent to that character to use the Police team ability.
The question has been raised in the rumors forum, does this actually do anything? The figure can already use the Police team ability, it's got the symbol right there on his base. Obviously, the intention was that he could overcome the limitation in the TA that requires a Police TA figure to be adjacent to a ranged attacker in order to make use of it, but that's not what it says. It says it grants "use", which is a very specific HeroClix game word, and one that is purely redundant here.
Can we get an Orange hand wave saying to ignore this problem?
I understood it as the higher point PD member being able to utilize GCPD Riot Officer's TA in the ranged attack as long as the Riot Officer has LoF to the target.
What's funny is Cosmo meets the requirement. I like to call it "the dog walks the man".

This is similar to the issue with the Superman Enemy TA that was cleared up in the recent PG.

The "immediately" keeps the character from claiming Outwit with one action, then waiting to activate it later.
Put it this way 3 GCPD Riot Officers, Maxwell lord and Commander EL, the DCPD can be anywhere within 8 squares of max and El, max do a range combat action and the DCPDs donīt need to be adjacent to him just needs to see the target to lower their defense by 3 no matter were they are.

I'd forgotten that one, thanks. Is there any other use of "use" in HeroClix that isn't "use vs. Possess" "use"?
POWER ACTIONS
A power action is an action given to a character
that allows it to use a game effect that requires a
power action to activate
If the 'use' here were the "use vs. Possess" "use", any character could be given a power action that would then allow it to "use" a power that requires a power action to activate.
I give Nightcrawler a power action to allow him to use Ranged Combat expert.
