Just kept this guy in the starting area until he activated his Doomsday device and he took out almost the entirety of my opponents team single handedly. I think he would play well with Weapon X or Ice Cap as the also take a few turns to 'activate,' maybe with a gamma bond set to splode with its range just outside your starting area.
I played a mean 600 point scientist team with chase Thanos, Red Skull, Johann Schmidt, Tony Stark and Hydra Technician x 2. I sent Thanos into battle while the rest of my scientists "built a Doomsday weapon". I pushed Johann to his Alto Ego click and changed him and continued to "build a Doomsday weapon" with him as well. Thanos was able to last 7 turns and I then sent the Red Skull and reinforcements in while I continued to build with the AE Red Skull. The other team was so beat up in the fight with Thanos, they never stood a chance against the rest. Indoor map helped and the fact that everyone on the opposing team focused on destroying Thanos without being able to heal.
Interesting question: It says 'once per turn' not 'once during your turn'. Can you do it on your opponent's turns as well, or is this just poor technical writing on WizKids part?
@spacecase2035 - Meh, not really bad writing because they state in the rulebook that you can only give your pieces actions on your turn. So since it takes a power action to activate, between the rules and the trait it limits it to your turn. But you're completely right that just having it say "once during your turn" would make it more clear.

I played this guy last night. With two scientists and just one sucessful leadership roll, I had built the doomsday weapon by the beginning of the third turn. Then you have a flying 85 points powerhouse with a 12 AV, 5 DV, Mastermind and Invulnerability. Yes!
To this point, I had payed three of the six team packs, and they were all grat:classic: fun!
Um, you do realize you can only use this ONCE per turn. It isn't possible to build it in 3 turns.
