Welcome to the Weekly Marvel Comics Review Thread!
Special Extra Spooky Halloween edition!
Every week we'll put up a "sticky" thread like this one so people can review and discuss the current weeks Marvel comics.
The threads will stay at the top of the Marvel Comics forum from Wednesday afternoon until the next Wednesday morning, after which time they'll be "unstuck" and return to their chronological spot in the forum, to be replaced by the current week's thread. Each thread will be marked with the ! icon.

Here we go for the 10/29/03 Marvel Comics Reviews!
Note:Incase some people don't know how my reviews work this is the way it works. I try to provide as little spoilers as possible. The grading is based on a scale of 1-10 for Story, Art and Overall which is a combination grade of Story and Art. I never go beyond 10 or below 1. On rare occasions I will give out an award and I only give out ONE award. That award is gold for MUST READ, I also try and make them as entertaining as possible. Oh yeah one more thing.....I will tease you!!!
Hulk:Grey 2
By:
-Jeph Loeb
-Tim Sale
Does anybody remember the review I gave Hulk:Grey last week? I gave it a pretty mediocre rating but this was a HUGE improvment over last weeks. As you know this is a flashback comic as Bruce Banner and Leonard Sampson are talking in a room going over how life was for Banner when he was first the Hulk. This issue had the Hulk talking to Betty Ross and then it showed the Hulk just kick arse. It truly showed how strong the Hulk was when about 10 soldiers were shooting lasers at the Hulk and the Hulks body was just a sponge. It would absorb all of those harmful lasers without any feeling. And then at the end it then showed the Hulk doing this..........YOU THINK I'M GONNA TELL YA?! BUY THE ISH IF YA WANNA FIND OUT! Anyway it was overall pretty good and like I said a HUGE improvement over last weeks.
Story-8[Great at best. Not much to say here except it was much better than last weeks]
Art-8[Tim Sale actually does draw the Hulk pretty well. Surprisingly I didn't see that last week but after reading this ish I found out it was pretty good.]
Overall-8 [A great comic all in all. Get it if your a Hulk fan]
Thats all I bought this week for Marvel comics. I hope you enjoyed my review. Thanks for reading!!!!!
You know, I believe this was a vast improvement over isssue #1. The stroy is a little better, and it's starting to move. But it's still slow, and at times a little boring.
I still have no love for Sale's art, though when Hulk comes face-to-face with Betty he resembles the Grinch!
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this a 6 overall. Above average, but not earth-shattering.
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC

Really bad. Nothing worth an impulse buy this week...
I second that the dracula tpb was interesting but other than that. Grr. I tell you how bad my luck was I bought my stores last ct booster and nothing but stuff i allready had. Than I bought the Avengers book hoping to mine it for ideas for my champions game. Another Grr. At least the art in the game book is pretty. It's been a bad week for me marvel wise.
I agree with you Darth Sabre, Sale's art is very cartooish at best. I myself am aspiring to be a comic artist, so I find very little interest in his style. Why couldn't they get somebody good, like Jim Lee, to draw it.
As much as I appreciate TPB's...I tend to buy them online. I only buy comics in comic book shops -and heroclix of course! - so Dracula I ignored.
As for Sales art - I can't comment too much as I only flicked through in the shop - but it looked like it had nice strong lines and an interesting style. Of course that kind of style might not appeal to you, but I'd wholeheartedly advise you devoured every single style if you want to become a comic book artist.

Great advice. Granted, Tim Sale isn't for everyone (or a good fit for every character), but his style aside, he puts together pages really well. Sale's storytelling is among the best in the industry.
hey, what about silver surfer? I know, so far it is incredibly lame, and we've only really seen him, like, less than 5 times already, but once we get past all this #### about the chick and her daughter and all that, i think we should start seeing some intergalactic bad-### stuff come up like Firelord
