The DKR Starter Bane does not have a Unique Ring on the dial, but does have a 'unique' background on the card.
The figure also has a rather 'unique' trait:
I HAVE VOWED TO DESTROY YOU: At the beginning of the game, choose a team ability or keyword possessed by an opposing character. Modifying the attack value of Bane and adjacent friendly characters and the damage value of Bane by +1 when they attack opposing characters who can use the chosen team ability or has the chosen keyword.
If the figure isn't Unique, the trait is going to be a rules headache when the figure is played in multiples. I expect that there is going to be an errata *anyway* to clarify that only *this* Bane gets the damage boost ...and not every adjacent figure named 'Bane'.

A name in an SP is more or less synonymous with "this character", unless it says something like "a character named Bane".

This is no different than other traits that specifically name the character using the trait.
Extra-Dimensional Teleportation: Nightcrawler ignores the effects of terrain and characters on movement.
If you have WS Nightcrawler and FF Nightcrawler on your team, FF Nightcrawler doesn't get to use this trait.
