Between the AE and Split/Merge abilities now in effect, I wanted to get some clarity on countered powers and how they are affected accordingly.
Example 1:
The opponent is playing Sentry. I use Outwit to counter his Flight ability. I damage Sentry and my opponent replaces him with the Void.
Question 1:
Does the Void regain his Flight ability?
Example 2 (theorectical):
My Bruce Wayne happens to have Outwit and the AE mechanic on the same click (similar to the Brave and the Bold). I counter a power on an opposing figure and change my figure to Batman who also happens to have Outwit on his swapped click.
Question 2:
Does my opponent gain his countered power back or is it still countered?
If a character is being affected by a power or ability when it is replaced for another (i.e., Alter-Ego, Morph, etc.) the new character remains affected.
If a character has activated a long-lasting game effect when it is replaced for another (i.e., Alter-Ego, Morph, etc.) the new character continues the effect only if the new character also can use that effect.
So the Void should still have his Flight countered, and Batman continues to counter the opponent's power.
This is a general example because it may not exist yet, but probably will someday: I outwit toughness on a character that then splits into 2 separate characters on my opponents turn. If they both have toughness then is the outwit applied to both or only one, and if only one-who chooses which one?
Today is a good day to die! But then, so was yesterday, and hey, tomorrow's not looking to bad either.

Based on this current PG ruling, they would both be countered.
