Defend + Super Strength + Desk from Indoor Adventure Kit...
Who can guess my question, based on the subject? Should be obivous. If a fig with Defend and Super Strength (like XP U Spidey) is holding the desk from the indoor adventure pack, does he get to share the +2 defense as well?
A better way to use this is to have Doc Ock on his SS/ESD click standing in hindering terrain next to IG while hold the desk from the indoor adventure kit.
18 DV from IG's Defend + ESD + Desk + HTB = 23 DV versus ranged attacks.
I'm not sure I agree with this. I'm not saying Psylocke is wrong (the world still spins, and we still have our precarious grasp on life in the univers)
But the printed number isn't always used. Defend values and the defender team is cumulative.
If IG is beside XP Spidey and then another fig is beside Spidey but not adjacent to IG then the other Fig (let's say logan) gets 18 for the defense....Spidey's printed value is 17.
On this example the printed dial is not used....leading one to a different conclusion, unless it says somewhere you can't use the desk in the way mentioned.....
This leads to an interesting question if Spidey were holding the desk and someone tried to pulsewave him......Powers are ignored.....but hindering terrain is not.....the desk is used as hindering terrain, but Spidey's SS is what allows him to use it.....does the desk still work defensively??????
Originally posted by Silver Lantern Well if you're carrying the desk it DOES NOT count as hindering as far as I know.
No but the desk has special rules. It can be used to add to your defense for an attack. From the new 3D Object Rules:
"Office Desk - May be used as a normal light object, or may increase the carrying character's defense value by 2. When either option is used, the object is destroyed when an attack roll is made."

Originally posted by Silver Lantern Canada, but if the desk ignores SS, isn't SS a prerequisite to holding the desk, hence don't you need SS to get the +2 bonus from the desk?
The powers are ignored, not countered. The character still has the desk and it's the desk adding to the defense. Technically, you do need SS to get the bonus (in order to carry the desk) but "ignoring" SS during an attack doesn't mean you can ignore the desk the character is holding as it's not an power or an ability.
