I want to include the gauntlet with the gem and the Infinity watch ATA.
I just don't understand what the ATA actually does for me. And what gem(s)
I should take.

Can someone break it down so my newb brain can handle it?

There won't be any benefit for using the ATA, since the Gauntlet doesn't let you have any other special objects on your force. If you use the Gauntlet, I would put it on Thanos. You can use two gems, so I would use Time (super senses) and Power (ranged combat expert).

The ata lets you pick up gems on a 3, 4, 5, or 6. So it is useless if you use it on a team with the gauntlet. The reason I didnt choose soul gem is because it only works with close combat while having supersenses is great close combat and ranged.

No. The Soul Gem gives you Steal Energy, which only works on close combat, but it ALSO heals you 2 clix any time you KO an opposing character regardless of how you did it, so that part works on ranged. Thanos' 9 range makes that ideal. Soul + Time would be my choice. Thanos @150 is squishy with his highest DEF being 17 and best DEF ability being Invulnerability. Having Healing and Super Senses is the most prudent choice for gem selection.

I forgot to mention that part. I see what you are saying, but in a lower point value game I just think the ability to do an additional 2 damage is more valuable. Though choice!

Ill go with soul/time then that makes more sense and fits the "theme" I was going for, since adam and thanos would have a way to comeback from nearly dead be it by killing or regen.

Beyond that what's the thoughts on the team?

I personaly think that Adam Warlock is too many points for his dial especially since Thanos won't allow the regeneration on Warlock because of Avatar of Death, Thanos' star. I would rather have 300 pt Thanos Gamora, and Gauntlet. Also, the full gauntlet wouldn't allow for Adam's special outwit. I would rather use SM Ursa since she ignores stealth or 150 pt superman or 149pt Dr. Strange or 148pt Hawkingbird or numerous other things. I do like Gamora though with the damage at least being two. Hope this helped!

Or for fun and keep theme three pip the trolls and add the rest of the gauntlet.

Play SR Thanos at 300, along with Professor X from the GSX Fast Forces at 75, and that still leaves you the gauntlet and 3 gems. This gives Shape Change to Thanos (since they're both scientists) if you keep the figures near each other. Prof has PC top dial too---very nice. The 3 gems let you use everyone's suggestionss: power, time, soul.

I've run this team and it was just brutal, tearing up the competition. Of course there have been a lot of sets out since then, but I still think it's a great team if you're gonna play SR Thanos in a 400.
